B	Brad Smith on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is an affordable option, however Alvast hosted us for 5 months in an old prison (we were made aware of this) however, their lack of communication with tenants was terrible; the security they hired was lacking. In one instance, two drunk people who clearly did not live in the building walked INTO my room while I was doing homework. On top of this, there were several issues regarding internet which they did not resolve throughout the entire period (it was almost unusable, a majority of the time we were left with less than 1mb/s.) They also created several new rules, implied new fines, etc... that were not in the contract when it was signed. They also decided to reject all packages that were sent to the location without notifying the tenants, which caused a lot of confusion; cleaning was minimal, building maintenance was awful (several elevators were broken, the fire alarms went off in the middle of the night at least 20 times, half the toilets did not work correctly and their solution was to "push the button softly", etc...) Overall, I tried to have a relaxed view of Alvast, I tried not to complain in hopes that they would resolve these issues at least by the end of the semester; however, as the semester is ending I have to say that Alvast has done an absolutely terrible job regarding communication, maintenance, and putting effort into resolving issues.

The irony is that living in an actual prison would have been better. In an actual prison, tenants would have reliable hot water, decent security and working amenities - basic provisions which Alvast could somehow neglect.

In my opinion, it is one of the most bottom-feeding and profit-oriented companies that I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Alvast's treatment of its residents was quite often rude and almost always exploitative. The residence, for which I was paying, was riddled with problems from day one. Issues included (but were not limited to), broken fire alarms that went off every few days, showers that often and for extended periods of time did not have hot water, broken and un-repaired elevators (in a 12 floor building), the absence of any security for a long period of time and no attempt to clean the building or dispose of garbage despite these promises being made in the contract. The company has absolutely no interest in fixing or paying attention to any of these issues. Occasionally, they will go out of their way to make you pay even more. Living in a residence managed by Alvast was truly one of the worst living experiences I have ever had. I would strongly urge you to take your business to any other property management group if you have the opportunity- it does not get much worse.

All the amenities that were supposed to be part of the contract either didn’t work or weren’t available and when we, or she, tried to communicate these concerns we received no response from the managers, or we were told things would be addressed and then they were not. If your student is looking for an affordable place to stay when studying abroad we do not recommend this place. Though it looks affordable it isn’t when you have to buy your own WiFi and you have to chip in with your floor mates to purchase a washer. Not to mention that the fire alarms malfunctioned and went off in the middle of the night and no one could be reached or bothered to address the issue.
C	Claudia Korenko on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can not recommend choosing Alvast for housing in Amsterdam, for several reasons: The overall communication via mail and face-to-face was always rude, impolite and not efficient. They do not care about you as a client. Only when it came to paying the rent in time, they where quite fast and on point. They did not provide sufficient wifi, as stated in the housing contract. It was not working at all. They did not even care to fix it. As agreed in the contract, the common areas of our student housing should be cleaned regularly. This did NOT happen. They cleaned it 3 times in 6 months. I am still waiting for my deposit. As agreed, they told us to give us the deposit back within 2 weeks; today its been almost 3 weeks. This is not a fair way to treat students. After kindly asking them in a mail, why they are not on time, they did not even apologise for that. Further, we had severe security issues in our student housing, the security guards were a joke. We had strangers walking into our floors and rooms, as well as robberies. The list is endless. Just don't waste your time with Alvast, they are an exploitative company, you do not care at all about their costumers. In fact, this word does not even exist for them.

G	Get Hiredd - with Jens Palsma on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Despite some of the negative reactions/reviews that I just been reading here from alvast here we had a different experience. We have lived for 1.5 year in a really nice apartment in Amsterdam west through Alvast. The contact has always been really good. The team is available if you have any questions and they really wanted to help you out when we had trouble with anything in the house. The price was also very decent for the space we got including a nice garden! Overall I would highly recommend Alvast and I would rent again from this company. The reason we stop renting here is because we move to another country. When we are coming back to The Netherlands I would contact the team of alvast again! L	Lisa Früchtl on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been living through Alvast now for about 7 months and I am very happy. I just got my second house with only one day in between! It is antikraak, which includes some sort of uncertainty, if you will. But you get good housing for a very good price in a nice city! The only thing the company asks of you is to be flexible. There are great people working there, who support and help you. What more could you want? I definitely recommend Alvast!
