About Amsterdam Vintage Watches
The next chapter started when the previous shop nearly collapsed because of its bad foundation. (one of Amsterdams specialties) In 2009 they moved from the red-light district to the Singel. Over the years the focus shifted more towards watches, greatly encouraged by the next generation; the son of Paul and Angelina.
We specialise in the trade of the worlds finest watches from Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet & Cartier.
These brands have in common that they exude luxury and quality; “pay more buy less”, words to live by in our opinion. Working closely together with Holland’s best watchmakers, all of our watches have been fully overhauled whilst maintaining its originality, prior to the sale of the watch. Besides a full one year guarantee of the proper functioning of the movement we ensure total originality. Jasper can also provide an official appraisal and has experience with authenticating and valuating watches for auction houses, colleagues, police and even on national Television. Furthermore we are pleased to purchase watches from a durably build network of collectors and dealers. If you have a watch for sale yourself, you can either fill out our “We Buy” form, send us an e-mail or pass by the store.

β β β β β Again great time at Amsterdam Vintage Watches. Although it's been two years I visited for the last time when I bought my watch, it feels like you walk in on a daily basis. I scratched the glass and called if they could fix it. The result was amazing, looks new again. Thanks again Dennis en Rutger for the premium service! Best!

β β β β β Very reliable and knowledgeable team dealing with Vintage watches. They are really helpful, supportive and helpful in any way helping you find βtheβ watch or watches you are looking for. This without being pushy in any way but even more building on trustful relationships! As a Buyer you always buy the Seller before the watch. If you plan to do a purchase speak to these guys and visit them! High recommendation.

β β β β β 3rd time buying at Amsterdam Vintage Watches. Great service, insane knowledge and even better watches (condition, condition, condition). Never falls to dissapoint.
So if you're looking to buy, whether it's now or in the near future, please visit them. One warning though: seeing their inventory will most likely make you empty every savings account you have!

β β β β β Let's start with the good experience: some months ago I was in need of an insurance appraisal for my IWC, for which I was helped and served professionally by Ramon. Everything went smoothly and I was positively surprised by his appraisal.
Having this past experience in mind, yesterday I decided to get an offer for my Rolex Submariner 16610 from 1991, that I am planning to sell to finance another purchase in the future. I was served by Chris (?), I am not sure if that's his name but he is not in the "About us" section, so I could not have a second look. First thing he says when I take the watch out of the box: "Oh no we are not going to be interested", because he saw that the patina on the indexes was not matching the patina on the hands, implying that they were serviced with Luminova applied hands. It could be the case in general, of course, but for somebody who is a watch seller/buyer, probably one of the first things you learn about watches is the history of the Submariner, and more specifically the fact that the patina, most of the time, is not the same around the whole dial, since Rolex used different factories for making hands and indexes back in the day. So, if I was a watch dealer, I would never jump to the conclusion after a first glance, that the hands were replaced (in general, you cannot say that they were not replaced either, since there is no reference number on them, what you can say is if they are Luminova or Tritium).
Then he took out a UV lamp (without magnifier) to show me that the hands were lightning green in the indexes and blue on the hands, a difference that me and my girlfriend could not see, not to imply the fact that I already checked the lume before purchasing it, with a UV lamp PLUS MAGNIFIER, which is the right lamp you should be using. After repedeatly telling him that the mismatch is caused by the different development of patina, and that the hands do not lume (if it was Luminova they would be bright in the dark) he said "maybe they are filled with something else". Something else? Like what? House paint?
If he was using a magnifier he could easily see that the hands are also developing patina on the base (see picture attached), but he didn't. When I was about to leave he asked me "out of curiousity" how much I wanted for the watch. But hey, didn't you say you were not interested? So the thing here is simple: either this guy just started working there and he had not a lot of experience or he tried to fool me by implying something to drive the price down. Both things are equally bad since the Submariner is the most traded watch among collectors; every sales guy should know everything about it.
All the things I said above about the watch were confirmed by an ispection that was done by an appraiser from Gassan (official Rolex dealer) later that day. Tritium hands, tritium indexes, different development of patina (both checked with a magnifier) not to mention the better service overall that I received.
[UPDATE]
I would like to thank Jasper for reaching out to me the same day this happened. He explained to me what went wrong and it was reassuring to see that there were some bad circumstances occurring that led to this result.
