R	Remy Berends on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beste kuil ooit. Ik wil mezelf echt geen kuilenexpert noemen, maar dit is de beste kuil in de omgeving. Veel parkeerplaatsen erbij ook, dus ook bij drukte goed te doen. Ga snel weer heen! Best pit ever. I really don't want to call myself a pit expert, but this is the best pit in the area. Lots of parking spaces there too, so good to do even in crowds. Go back soon!
F	F.J.A.M. van der helm on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ De Drenten hadden vroeger hun eigen rechtspraak. Hun hoogste rechtscollege was de Etstoel, die driemaal per jaar bijeenkwam. De bijeenkomsten werden in de open lucht gehouden bij deze Balloër-kuil, die daarom van historisch grote betekenis is. De rechtspraak werd gehouden door de voorzitter en 24 Etten (=rechters- gezworenen). The Drents used to have their own jurisdiction. Their highest court was the Etstoel, which met three times a year. The meetings were held in the open air at this Balloër pit, which is therefore of great historical significance. The judiciary was held by the chairman and 24 Etten (= jurors).
H	Hermes van Amstel on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Balloërkuil allegedly is the place where justice was spoken in medieval times - at least this was the opinion of 17th century local historians such as Johan Picardt. This spot was for this reason acquired by the Drenthe province in 1846. It is however more likely a natural sandy open spot in the oak tree forest. Very pleasant place to be!
