★ ★ ★ ★ ★ No words are fitting enough to describe calamities of this scale. Tragic, loathsome, man-made abominations such as the deeds that were done here, and in other, similar places, must be confronted and absorbed head-on, not summarized with pithy words and expressive adjectives. It is the duty of all descendants, witnesses, survivors and perpetrators to accept and understand the evils of which man is capable. That is why memorials such as Westerbork, Auschwitz and Yad Vashem exist.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great museums, very quiet place, the hick to the camp location is beautiful. Don't expect to see much on the camp site, you will only see the remainder of the buildings. But, the camp German commander house still exists in original conditions. A lot of sad stories. MUST VISIT. WELL WORTH IT.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A sad memory for the Netherlands. The warm sunny day was a sharp contrast with the the cold, cruel events that went down here. Among 100.000 other people, Anna Frank and her family were brought to this camp before being sent to Auschwitz.
The entrance to the camp itself is free. There is not too much left from the time when it was used, but it's still very impressive. The explanations are in Dutch though

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Today in #kampwesterbork what a special place to be now. Very educational but also impressive. But also of this time if you read the list of things that in 1941 the Jewish people were not allowed and now come again for unvaccinated people. For example, not to Bar, Cinema, Restaurant, Travel, work, and freedom of one's own body. Let's not make the same mistake again as we did 76 years ago and above all cherish our freedom.
