SURROUNDINGS
Etersheim is an ancient hamlet, situated between old harbour city Hoorn and picturesque towns Edam and Volendam. The agricultural world heritage area Beemster polder is very close. Open air museums Enkuizen and Zaanse Schans and capital city Amsterdam are just 30 minutes by car.
Besides walking and cycling, whisper boats are popular day tour vehicles, as is sailing or cruising on the Markermeer (Marker lake). The dyke is currently being reinforced, at Schardam and Warder the lake is still accessible. The church overlooks the restored mill of Etersheim, a museum mill with a cozy coffee house. The larger village Oosthuizen is close, which contains a supermarket, bakery, fast food take away and a pub.
The church stands just yards away from the popular Zuiderzee route. In addition to this continuous route around the IJsselmeer (IJssel lake), it is also located on several smaller walking and cycling routes through the Dutch agricultural landscape, with cows and sheep, dikes, canals and ponds, protected bird meadows, overflow land behind the dikes and lovely old villages. A nice walk is the Dik Trom path, that is specially meant for children, named after the children's books by writer C. Joh. Kieviet, who lived and taught in the old school of Etersheim. Much fun is the route where one has to cross canals with little pull ferries.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super!!! Alles zelfs na de foto's nog boven verwachting. Hele bijzondere ervaring. Leuk te combineren met Edam (Fort! , Lunch bij Strandbad en stadswandeling) of fietsen huren (wij hadden alleen pech met het weer)
Super!!! Everything even after the photos still beyond expectations. Very special experience. Nice to combine with Edam (Fort!, Lunch at Strandbad and city walk) or rent bikes (we only had bad weather)

Separate location, full breakfast, clean. In terms of space and facilities a bit too expensive for the requested.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wauw, meer valt er niet over te zeggen. Wat een rust dat deze buurt uitstraalt. De dame zelf is vriendelijk en de kamer is prachtig. Een grote kamer met voldoende stopcontacten wat zeker niet overal van toepassing is. Wij hadden de bovenste kamer en hadden een enorm zicht over de rondomliggende velden. Uitgebreid onbijt waar voldoende keus was. Ook leuk om weten is tot Amsterdam op 30min rijden ligt en Volendam slechts 15 km. Voor ons is het voor herhaling vatbaar
Wow, there's nothing more to say about it. What a peace that this neighborhood radiates. The lady herself is friendly and the room is beautiful. A large room with sufficient sockets, which is certainly not applicable everywhere. We had the upper room and had a huge view over the surrounding fields. Extensive breakfast with sufficient choice. Also nice to know is until Amsterdam is 30 minutes away and Volendam only 15 km. For us it is worth repeating

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Das B&B von Saskia ist sehr empfehlenswert. Eine wunderbare Gastgeberin. Wir hatten das Zimmer unter dem Dach mit Blick auf das Markermeer. Traumhaft! Den Garten durften wir mitbenutzen und konnten draußen frühstücken. Genial!
Saskia's B&B is highly recommended. A wonderful hostess. We had the room under the roof with a view of the Markermeer. Dreamlike! We were allowed to use the garden and had breakfast outside. Brilliant!
