Biesbosch MuseumEiland

The museum is interesting and covers all kind of aspects liked the history, the war, the crafts, the animals and plants etc. When we were there there was a nice exhibition of paintings and sculptures, mainly of birds. The restaurant is small and the kitchen was closed already when we were there at 1800. Although they did serve us a meat ball with bread which was ok, but not great. The museum is also the starting point for the boat tours. We did the beaver tour which is Wednesday's at 19:30. And we did see a beaver, and an osprey and had a good time in general with interesting explanations from wildlife experts. Take a jacket and binoculars if you take the tour. The tour by itself would be 5 stars. The restaurant 3 and the museum 4.

A very nice and informative museum. Combined with the boat ride (app. 1h 15 min) a nice day. My kids were a bit too young (3 and 5), which is obvious, since kids younger than 4 years old don't pay the entrance fee. My boy is particularly interested in animals, so he had a great time. My advice is to visit it with children 6 years and up. My kids loved the outdoor activity though, they could play with water. The food in the restaurant was really nice (not the greatest selection of different foods), but the prices were ok.

When visiting de Biesbosch, you should also visit the museum. It offers scripts in different languages, and the rooms are informing and interesting. To make the experience greater for non native dutch speakers, the museum could extend this with audio guides in the most important languages in combination with QR codes, similar to museums in Amsterdam. A family tarif would help keeping the budget. You definitely should not miss to book the boat tour, leading deep into de Biesbosch with a great guide. With some luck you can observe sea eagles and bivers and of course a lot of birds! By the way, there is a nice cafeteria with good soups, cake and huge glass windows with view on the waterside.

The Biesbosch is one of the most important and beautiful natural parks of the Netherlands with a direct link to history of the battle with the water. In this case a battle lost. The museum shows how the area coped with this loss and how it developed after that. The museum is recently rebuild, spacious in the set up and gives a clear picture of the history. The museum restaurant serves quality food and drinks and there is a large playground for kids to play with miniature sluices and learn about water. Also the whisper tourboats depart from here, which is a great way to see the Biesbosch of you don't have time to rent a boat and get on the water by yourself.

This an interesting museum located in a beautiful setting. There is a lot of information in the museum but it was particularly pleasant to sit outside, given that the weather was great. I would recommend taking the boat trip!

The place is nice, not so big, but the outside is great. We took the boat, didn't see many beavers, but it was a nice ride. The boat ride is around 1.15 hours. Small cafeteria do nothing special, but drinks to seat outside.

Great national park, also accessible by Ferry, Ferry ride from Dordrecht to Biesbosch is very nice. The duration is just 12 minutes. Great for walking and also cycling. Playing areas for kids at different places.
