★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jacob Jordens was als kunstschilder samen met Rubens en Van Dyck één van de tenoren van de Vlaamse barok schilderkunst . Hij is geboren te Antwerpen op 19/05/1593 en aldaar ook overleden op 18/10/1678.
Hij schilderde voornamelijk grote historie-stukken , portretten en landschappen. Hij ontwierp ook wandtapijten.
Het arduin en brons gedenkteken in Putte dateert van de 19de eeuw . Oorspronkelijk was hij katholiek maar bekeerde zich tot het protestantisme. Hij werd net buiten de grens begraven in de hervormde kerk omdat er geen protestantse begraafplaatsen waren in de Zuidelijke Nederlanden.
 As a painter, Jacob Jordens was one of the tenors of Flemish Baroque painting, along with Rubens and Van Dyck. He was born in Antwerp on 19/05/1593 and died there on 18/10/1678.
He mainly painted large history pieces, portraits and landscapes. He also designed tapestries.
The bluestone and bronze memorial in Putte dates from the 19th century. He was originally Catholic but converted to Protestantism. He was buried just outside the border in the Reformed Church because there were no Protestant cemeteries in the Southern Netherlands.
