About Cacao & Spice Chocolate Shop
Small farmers are finding it impossible to survive on the fluctuating FairTrade price for their cacao beans.

We stopped believing in Fair Trade Schemes and limit ourselves to only working with 'Direct Trade' chocolate, ensuring transparent trade.
There are no more than 2 steps between our shop and farmers.
This way small farmers can earn 2x, 3x or even 4x the price a kilo they would earn with "FairTrade" cacao beans.

For us this was a logical choice to do, not only to create and sell the most delicious chocolate in the world, but also to create a better world for is all, through the healing power of cacao.

β β β β β My wife and I were traveling in Amsterdam recently and randomly ran across this chocolate store after visiting De Oude Kerk. Even though the shop was technically closed, the owner (SalomΓ©) let us in and took the time to let us taste several great single-origin, responsibly-sourced chocolates that support farmers directly. The chocolates were so good that we got several different bars, expecting the total might be pretty high, but we were pleasantly surprised that the end total was very reasonable. I lost her business card but liked her and the store so much I wanted to find out the store name so we can stop in again next time we visit Amsterdam, and recommend it to others too.

β β β β β Our company has decided to try something new for our monthly team event! I seeked out the help of Salome thinking chocolate tasting would be a perfect thing! From the first email we exchanged, Salome has been extremely helpful and accommodating. They have went above and beyond and took care of absolutely everything for us before the event! They sent our all the packages, which were packed beautifully. On the day of the event, Salome has given an amazing presentation of the Chocolates we are tasting, along with a lot of fun facts and trivia. Our team has had an amazing time trying out chocolates and listening to fun facts. Salome and her husband are truly amazing people and we will definitely be recommending their services along! Thank you once again!

Also loved the ethical aspect of the shop with fair trade chocolate and biodegradable packaging! I would totally recommend it for an experience or to just pass by the shop to buy one of those excellent bars.

β β β β β an amazing experience all around. the shop is in an interesting part of town (old Amsterdam) right in a very famous red light alley. we tried at least a dozen chocolates but probably more. with each piece, we got a background on where it came from and why it was chosen for this tasting. at the end, I even snorted a bump of organic cacao powder which was a really experience. I had a great time, SalomΓ© is great, the tasting was awesome. I would ded recommend.

β β β β β Decent selection of fine Chocolate given that space isn't that big. Very pleasant and knowledgeable mistress. A nice little gem in the middle of coffee shops mist :) very close to Amsterdam Central. They accept credit cards and even make their own chocolate :) You can sample some selected bars. Highly recommend it.
