Canal House - part of A Curious Group of Hotels - Keizersgracht 148

The Canal House and their staff were unbelievable! Starting from check-in, where the reception desk noticed it was my birthday, acknowledged it and comped a welcome beer, apple pie, and coffee. We arrived early, so they allowed us to drop off our bags while we went out. When we did get to our room, the staff had left birthday balloons and a greeting note wishing a Happy Birthday (also comped 2 glasses of Prosecco during our next visit to the bar). Overall the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast that was included in the morning was a pretty good buffet breakfast (croissants, pastries, cheese, meats, fruit, etc.). They also offer hot breakfast on order for a really good price. The dining room staff was also extremely friendly and generous. The room was spacious, had nice decor, and had a really unique bathroom. They offer a specialized line of shampoo, conditioner, lotions, and soap which was really good. Each time we came back to our room after our excursions, the room was made up. Great service. Again, we can't say enough how great the staff was and how accommodating they were the whole time we were there. Upon check out, they comped a box of brownies and helped us with information on getting to the train station. Can't say we've had a better hotel experience anywhere else. Really good location, access to most sightseeing places. Hotel is great. Difficult if elderly to get up stairs. Great staff. Enjoyed our stay here. Our view from room was not nice as it overlooked a wall. Other rooms had beautiful views of canal. Nice gardens to relax in.

This is an exceptional boutique hotel. The room I had was amazing, the space was laid out nicely and the bathtub and separate shower were both excellent. The view of the canal was lovely and it was located in a nice part of the city center giving you access to plenty of bars, restaurants and shopping. They also had a nice breakfast and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend!

We had a short, but very nice stay at this lovely hotel! The team was very nice, welcoming and very helpful. They had a lot of kind attentions toward us. The hotel is very well decorated and our room was cosy and comfortable. Canal House is also very well located at 10min from Central Station and in a walking distance of everything you need to see in Amsterdam (but in a very quiet neighborhood). Thank you very much!

Great location for proximity to nice shops and restaurants. Lovely and attentive staff. Relaxing environment and beautifully appointed rooms with very comfortable bed and good pillows. The breakfast and coffee was great. I look forward to my return !

Definitely, it is not one of Small Luxury Hotels And this is why. Rooms are not properly air conditioned. A receptionist told us that the reason behind is that the hotel is located in a historical building. There was unpleasant smell inside our room and it was not removed by a stationary conditioner. Some refurbishment is badly needed, our room looked «tired». Everything is combined here - the kitchen is combined with the restaurant, the reception is combined with the bar (not a cozy one, frankly speaking), and the shower stands open and is combined with the room. Not everyone likes this. Our room had a wall view (!) - not nice at all. There were mosquitoes during the night, not a pleasant experience either. The breakfast is scarce, only cold meals and drinks are included - one has to pay extra for a warm dish. Canal House boasts a very nice inner garden however, but very few guests have time to relax inside (with no drinks provided) during a short stay. Disappointed. No intention to come back.

Canal House is more than a hotel, it is an amazing experience, the building and atmosphere is unique, the location the best in Amsterdam, the service superb. We spent 4 nights and it was magic. We will come back. Thank you Kristel and Melanie for your kind help.
