★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Um pouco de Portugal em Haia. Das piores experiências de atendimento que se pode ter por cá. Depois de já ter feito e tratado de tantos documentos em diferentes agências holandesas sem problema nenhum (não falando holandês, sempre em inglês), vir aqui é sempre um sacrifício.
 A little bit of Portugal in The Hague. One of the worst service experiences you can have around here. After having done and handled so many documents in different Dutch agencies without any problem (not speaking Dutch, always in English), coming here is always a sacrifice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Há duas semanas que estou a tentar fazer agendamento para o cartão de cidadão para além de ninguém atender o telefone, no local do agendamento online a resposta é sempre a mesma, não há datas para agendamento. Envio e-mail e descrever o que se passa, a resposta que obtenho é ateimarem comigo que o site está a funcionar em perfeitas condições e que há datas. Volto a tentar, ligar, fazer agendamento e nada, volto a enviar e-mail e a resposta é sempre a mesma.... E continuo a tentar ligar e nada, agendamento... nada. Típico sistema português....
For two weeks I have been trying to make an appointment for the citizen card besides nobody answering the phone, at the online appointment place the answer is always the same, there are no dates for scheduling. I send e-mail and describe what is going on, the answer I get is to let me know that the site is working in perfect condition and that there are dates. I try again, call, make appointments and nothing, I send emails again and the answer is always the same .... And I keep trying to call and nothing, scheduling ... nothing. Typical Portuguese system ....

Unable to contact this Consulate. They should have someone to answer the calls... It's a lack of respect for emigrants!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I do understand the system for collecting the "cartão do cidadão" wasn't working today... What I can't believe is the way it's informed to the public! - very disrespectful way to communicate with Portuguese people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Initially it was very frustrating dealing with the consulate, and we had a hard time getting in contact.
However, after a visit, it is clear that there is extreme demand, and low staff to handle all the demand. We got documents notarized, and although the service took a long time, they were very helpful, and even went above and beyond what we expected. Hope it gets less busy in the future!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Learned today (the hard way, after putting some km) that if there is an holiday in Portugal, the electronic system that allow us to be able to pick up the Citizen Card stops working and, apparently, no one will fix it, since it is an holiday!
What a great form of respect to the communities outside of the motherland! ?
