Enjoying the tastiest, fresh products in a cozy home away from home. Isn’t that what everyone wants? That is what you get at breakfast & lunch cafe Da Piera in Monnickendam. Whether you want to eat a gluten free, dairy free, vegan or vegetarian breakfast or lunch, or have no special diet and just want to drink a cappuccino with fresh milk after your walk or bike ride through Monnickendam.
Every salad, every sandwich and all juices are prepared with fresh and seasonal ingredients and a whole lotta love and attention. Organic, fair-trade & sustainability are our keywords.
And coffee? We take our coffee serious and co-operate with Friedhats. They are a micro roastery based in Amsterdam, sourcing and roasting the best sustainable coffee they can find. Sourcing it based on flavour. Roasting it to accentuate its natural characteristics.
Passion for food and cooking led us to start Da Piera. It makes us happy when people savor the dishes we prepare. We realised that we were living on a beautiful location with an awesome view on the old Harbor of Monnickendam. A place we want to share with others. A place where you feel at home.
In our vision nutrition without any additions is the best medicine. And the good thing about it? It tastes great! From the tastiest cakes, sandwiches & soups to delicious fresh salads. Just like at home our menu changes frequently. And just like at home we love to chat with you if you feel like it. We would love to have you!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the best cafe around ! Trust me , I am overly particular about my coffee , even more so than a hipster from Cape Town with a man bun. My only warning is that if you live far away from Da Piera, you have a serious problem, because once you have had one of Maartins meticulous made coffees, you will be like me who has to travel 10km every Saturday and Sunday to get your fix and a piece of delicious apple pie.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My experience for this place is very bad. We have ordered 2 smoothies but we got 2 fruit juices what is full with little pieces what ever that is. It was too much salty. For 4.25 euros not worth at all. If you order smoothies understand those are not tasty smoothies as you expect.

The baba ganoush sandwich was fantastic—avocado and pomegranate seeds and arugula piled high. Also options for meat eaters as well as fish. Nice atmosphere with outside seating by water and friendly waitstaff.
