It’s not mandatory, but we strongly suggest making a reservation (especially on days like Friday and Saturday!) since the maximum number group of people allowed on a tour is limited to 15 people. Reserving is fast and easy. If you are not able to make a reservation that means the tour is fully booked. But even in that case, there is hope: there are always some people that don’t show up for the reservation, so if you come early (15 minutes before the start) we can put you on the stand-by list and you can take the spot of someone who does not show up for their reservation.

β β β β β If you have not done this tour, cancel your plans and make time for it! Having just moved to Amsterdam, my wife and I wanted to learn about the history of the city, and we were not disappointed. I have heard that all of the tour-guides are good but our guide, Sam, was exceptional. His knowledge of Amsterdam and his cultural insights were just amazing, and his delivery of some of the history (particularly around the WWII atrocities) was so heartfelt that I my eyes welled up on several occasions. Sam added some great personal touches too, including giving us stroopwafels to taste and singing the famous βAan de Amsterdamse Grachtenβ song for us. The 2.5 hours flew by, leaving us with a hunger for more (knowledge and stroopwafels!) Sam was also most thoughtful in compiling a list of recommended activities, restaurants, and places to visit which he emailed to us after the tour. Overall, this was not just a tour of the city but a historically enriched peek into the principles underlying Dutch culture, all delivered by an extremely knowledgeable and passionate guide. I am looking forward to taking the tour again with my friends and family that come to visit!

Sam was completely amazing. His storytelling is remarkable. He knows what he is talking about and makes the stories very alive and gets everybody with him. I saw myself standing with my mouth open while listening. I definitely recommend this tour.

β β β β β Booked the tour last minute with my cousin as I have done similar tours in other cities! Our guide Sam was amazing!!! He had such knowledge of the city and of its history that I feel I'm leaving Amsterdam with an even better appreciation! It was also light hearted and fun and topped off with a local sweet snack mid walk! A list of recommendations of what to do and where to eat was also given to us which I think fulfills any trip!
