China Sichuan Restaurant - Chengdu - Lange Niezel 24

4.3/5 based on 8 reviews

On the Chinese New Year Eve, the most important festival in Chinese tradition, we had a lovelyTuan Nian Fan (New Year’s reunion dinner) in our restaurant. After 2 years’ lockdown, we were finally able to celebrate this occasion again with everyone in the Sichuan family. During the Spring Festival, our guests in the restaurants also received the red packets we prepared with lucky vouchers. Meanwhile, our limited T-shirt became the favorite of our fans who love fashion and style. And what else could have been a better start for the new year, than the uplifting lion dances with firecrackers?

Be aware there are 3 Sichuans in Amsterdam, I have been to all 3 places, and this Sichuan restaurant located at Lange nezel 24, is literally the best one in taste and service. Their food is more authentic, and it’s normally less crowded than the other 2 because of the location. The people are always super friendly. If you want to try authentic Chinese cuisine, this is the place to go. 家人们这家味道真的绝了,强推❤️

Authentic Sichuan food, good flavors and spices. Watch your spiciness tolerance, this place is no joke. Service is just OK and price is a bit steep because of location, but it's all about the food here. Hard to find better Sichuan food in town.

Authentic food, beautiful decoration, attentive service. The spicy hot is good for spicy food lovers, but if you are not very into it, be careful, most of dishes are more or less hot.

Situated in Lange Niezel, in the heart of Amsterdam's red light area and just a stone's throw away from Chinatown's Zeedijk, is the multi award winning China Sichuan Restaurant/Chengdu. Not long ago, it was voted as one of the top 15 restaurants in Amsterdam and it was the only Chinese restaurant to make the list. The restaurant is decorated in vibrant colours with murals, paintings and other oriental works of art. A sea of lanterns grace the ceiling. This split-level place has a great ambience. Chinese melodies play softly in the background. The menu is beautifully illustrated with colour photographs of all the dishes on offer. Symbols of chilli peppers give an indication as to the heat of the dishes. These range from one to four. The most ferocious on offer is Chungking Famous Chilli Chicken, a dry chicken dish without sauce where the heat gradually builds to a crescendo, definitely not for the uninitiated. You won't find any European style Chinese cuisine here. The chefs originate from the Sichuan Province where they spent years mastering centuries old family and regional recipes. There is a mouth watering selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, all of which are beautifully presented in a variety of tableware to enhance the dining experience. There is a well stocked bar with an impressive assortment of drinks and spirits. Staff are very helpful and attentive, happy to assist with recommendations. The restaurant also has a branch in the nearby Warmoesstraat.

Hands down the best sichuan food I’ve had in a very long time. It brought me tears of joy and many memories back to my time in chengdu. Most authentic food I had outside of china and the staff is very very polite and recommends the best food and what goes with it. Thank you for the short trip of flavours, smells and atmosphere of china and chengdu. And for the foreigners..: please please don’t try to search or ask for the usual Chinese take out fast food.. try to ask the staff and enjoy local chengdu and sichuan cuisine and open for an explosion of flavours in your mouth. Thank you for the trip back memory lane.

I’ve been there twice and its amazing. The food is of very good quality and the prices are very fair for Amsterdam. I would definitely recommend you trying the authentic sichuan dishes such as mapo tofu… This time we went for beijing duck and sweet and sour crispy pork, the first was amazing and the latter was great as well, albeit not as good as their mapo tofu or other spicy dishes. Service was friendly as well. Food wise probably one of the best I’ve tried in the past few years.
