About Frens Haringhandel
Hij investeerde zijn zuur verdiende geld in een volledig nieuwe haringkar. Tot op de dag van vandaag werken wij in diezelfde haringkar, natuurlijk met de nodige vervangingen en moderniseringen. Dit is ook het jaar dat zijn grote liefde Liesel in de kar kwam werken. Samen hebben zij de haringkar gemaakt tot een prachtig familiebedrijf.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The taste is good! But a typical tourist spot and therefore overpriced. 5€ for a rather small herring roll is stretching it… the fried fish (kibbeling) with sauce for 7€ was really good but expensive for the rather small portion size.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is my first time trying herring. It is raw fragmented fish. At first glance, it is little gross but surprisingly tasty especially when eat it with fresh onion and pickle.
If you visited Netherlands, I highly recommend this menu!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Started my Euro trip in Amsterdam and I told to try the herring. A friend told me about this spot when he came to Amsterdam. Had a few bites with the delicious pickle. It was just not my thing so could not finish it. 10/10 for the pickles, 8/10 for the whole experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ YES, in case you're wondering: this is the stall Anthony Bourdain visited in the episode 'The Layover Amsterdam'. Specialty of the house is the baby herring (in Dutch 'Maatje') and it is served straight up with onions and pickles. If you like sushi or rollmops, you'll also be able to appreciate this Dutch treat. Price for a straight-up baby herring with no sandwich is € 3,50, so it's surely not the cheapest but quality is 1st concern here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ IMHO, the best herring. It's super fresh and doesn't taste like herring in my homeland at all. I don't generally eat herring 'cause I feel nauseous afterwards, but, I felt absolutely perfect after the fresh herring in Amsterdam. And this place offers the freshest!

The owners, Kasper and Reuben, are very nice people, reliable friendly. I was in Amsterdam from Monday to Friday and I went there everyday to have my breakfast and lunch. There's a variety of different fish and I am sure you will enjoy as I did. Congratulations
