 Giethoorn Village is located near Lake Bovenwijde, in the Steenwijkerland Autonomous Region, in the Dutch province of Overijssel.
This village dates back to about 1230, becoming particularly famous since 1958, when Dutch filmmaker Bert Haanstra filmed the famous comedy "Fanfare" here.
This village is nicknamed "Venice of the Netherlands", has a beautiful scenery, poetic, quiet as in fairy tales, no roads for cars, only roads for bicycles, mainly in the form of traffic waterways, through the canal system.
