Grandcafé de Bommel is te vinden in het centrum van Sneek waar ooit rond de waag de boter en kaasmarkt was. Op deze plaats stond ooit de bioscoop maar deze moest plaatsmaken voor de Nederlandse middenstand Bank. Men kon toen nog voor de deur parkeren.
Nadat deze was overgenomen door de ING bank is het een horeca bedrijf geworden. In de kelder vindt u nog een van de 3 kluizen die nog in het pand te vinden zijn. Hier is nu het toilet gevestigd.
Een bijkomstigheid is dat er een groot geld bedrag mist toen de bank er uitging. Helaas hebben wij het nog niet gevonden.
In juni 2009 heeft Grandcafé de Bommel zijn deuren geopend en is sinds die tijd een van de toonaangevende uitgaansgelegenheden van Sneek. De oorsprong van Grand café de Bommel was de kleinste Horecagelegenheid in Sneek, het Leeuwenhart, waar tegenwoordig de Ratjetoe te vinden is aan de leeuwenburg 2. Meer ruimte en een zonnig terras waren de redenen om deze stap te maken.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Expensive. Staff takes a long time to come to table after which you will never see them again. When calling the staff all you will get is an annoyed face. Assortment and choice of drinks is good though.

Huge disappointment with the food: the burger below snack bar quality, dry, meat did not look fresh and was strange colour. The sandwich had no butter not sauce, just a piece of cheap bread with cucumber slices and eg thrown on it. Cherry on top of the cake: the Erdinger beer in a glass 50% foam, 50%beer. Very visible since there was a 50 cl mark on a glass. The stuff tried to say that it's a small bottle. If only Erdinger came in small bottles here...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was really very bad and overpriced. Half our orders did not come. One of the orders that came was a €15 hamburger that could have easily come from the chipshop (where my wife later had one (because her order did not come) for €3.00. Avoid!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice location and friendly staff but they served the most horrible burger we've ever had. Completely cold, the cheese wasn't even melted, old dry bread and weird grey meat.
Way too expensive for what you get.
