About Grand Café De Smederij
Een unieke locatie, dat wisten we. Een prachtig pand met geweldige kansen, ook daarvan waren we op de hoogte. Toen wij in 2013 de knoop doorhakten en de nieuwe eigenaar werden van dit unieke restaurant in Goes, hadden wij niet durven dromen dat een aantal jaren later Grand Café de Smederij zou uitgroeien tot een volwassen en verfijnde zaak. Nu schittert er een Grand Café waar u overdag heerlijk op ons zonnige terras plaats kunt nemen en ’s avonds van prachtige gerechten kunt genieten. Ook wij genieten. We genieten van onze gasten en het geweldige team die dagelijks alles op alles zet om het onze gasten naar hun zin te maken.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Despite having a very friendly and enthusiastic service team, I have eaten as badly as possible can be. I ordered the fish and chips, same as my table mate. The fish was very dry and tasteless and at my third piece my stomach didn't want to accept it anymore. Being still hungry, we ordered a coffee with some sweets. We couldn't believe how they could even epically fail on serving sweets with a very greasy browny, a dried out sponge cake, and a butter cake with a very weird and undefined aftertaste. And what was that little drink they served with it? Yak.
The moca beans were good and the wine as well. So basically the things the kitchen did not touch.
The worst of it is, that I have to travel home for about three hours. Already at the restaurant I had to run to the toilet.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Grand café, nouveau shabby style. Shrimp "kroketten" without a traceable shrimp. Meat "kroketten" without identifiable meat. Why? "That is how they are made" answers the nice waitress.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful property next to the lake, looks gorgeous from the outside. The interior looks chic with extended seating facing the water (probably closed during colder months). They have a carefully selected menu with good selection of meat and fish dishes. There are couple of vegetarian/vegan options as well. I like how they bring you artisan bread in a little basket the moment you sit down. That bread tastes divine with some olive oil that's available on every table. I find myself thoroughly enjoying their meat and fish preparations. Prices are quite affordable. I recommend a visit if you're ever in Goes.

The location is very nice with heated outside seating.
The staff was very friendly and correct. If I had to point out a flaw it would be that the youngest people at a table were asked for their order first.
The food is of very good quality at a fair price!
