L	Louis Verscheure on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Een kerkhof is normaal gezien geen trekpleister, geen bestemming maar een onvermijdelijk eindpunt. Dit is echter een uitzondering die de regel bevestigt. Het oude kerkhof in Roermond is een omweg waard. Prachtig onderhouden door een stichting en vol van religieuze symboliek. In het midden het bisschop graf er omheen het grote Katholieke gedeelte. Met muren afgescheiden daarvan, het Protestantse en het Joodse gedeelte. Het is een rijksmonument en zal er altijd zijn en blijven. Beroemd is het dubbelgraf van Katholiek man en Protestantse vrouw of omgekeerd. In ieder geval geven ze elkaar over de muur een hand. Symbolische liefde na de dood over religieuze grenzen heen, prachtig toch. Achterin word je stil bij de kindergrafjjes die in eenvoud schril afsteken bij de soms protserige familiegraven waar hele generaties liggen. Mijn familie ligt er ook, pal naast het centrale bisschopsgraf. Ik nog niet maar kom er als mannelijk lid van de Verscheure familie wel ooit terecht. Als je dan toch begraven moet worden dan maar op een van de mooiste kerkhoven van Nederland.... A graveyard is normally not an attraction, not a destination but an inevitable end point. However, this is an exception that confirms the rule. The old cemetery in Roermond is worth a detour. Beautifully maintained by a foundation and full of religious symbolism. In the center the bishop's grave around the large Catholic section. With walls separated from it, the Protestant and Jewish sections. It is a national monument and will always be there. Famous is the double grave of Catholic man and Protestant woman or vice versa. In any case, they shake hands across the wall. Symbolic love after death across religious boundaries, beautiful anyway. At the back you become silent at the children's graves, which in simplicity stand out sharply at the sometimes prudish family graves where entire generations lie. My family is also there, right next to the central bishop's grave. I have not yet, but will ever end up there as a male member of the Verscheure family. If you still have to be buried then just one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the Netherlands ....

Die "liebenden Hände" von Josephine van Afferden und ihrem Ehemann Jacob Gorkum, aber auch viele andere Grabmäler haben Geschichten zu erzählen. Ich war nicht das letzte Mal dort.... A place of silence but also of many stories. The "loving hands" of Josephine van Afferden and her husband Jacob Gorkum, but also many other tombs, have stories to tell. It was not my last time there ....

Nice cemetery with many authentic graves and statues. However, some tombstones are very poorly maintained. Just as nice a location for photos.

Ook een van de meest merkwaardige graf met de handjes is daar te bewonderen. Alleen jammer dat parkeren soms moeilijk is Very interesting graveyard. Wij hebben er vandaag misschien wel ruim 2 uur doorgebracht. Sereen, stil en vol natuur! Beautiful place for taking pictures. Walk among the graves and look at all the old splendor. There are also a number of special graves / monuments. We may have spent over 2 hours there today. Serene, quiet and full of nature!
