 Nice place to swim in the open nature and then relax on the side with your picnic basket on your warm buttocks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Paard van Noord is an old concrete crane. The 42 meter high crane was built between 1956 and 1959.
In 2008 the municipality of Amsterdam bought the crane and then dismantled it. After more than half a century of loyal service, this seemed to be the end for the crane.
When in 2013 the parts of the crane, which had been lying in the sand for years, threatened to be removed, local residents led by author Bas Kok revolted.
In October 2014 he founded an association of local residents under the appropriate name of Paard van Noord. This association worked hard for the reconstruction of the crane, which is seen by many as a historical object of industrial activity in Amsterdam North.
On December 15, 2018, the official opening of the Paard followed, which is seen as an icon of Amsterdam-Noord and should in the future become a meeting place for local residents.
