1 star bcs I could not open a bank account because of my greek ID. (Even though I didn't have any problem getting my bsn number from gemeente)

You have to make an appointment in advance in order to have a time registered with a specific person that can help you open an account for international students. I have to say I was expecting something else from a country praised by students and other people as well. Even in my country the service is FAR better than here. I was incredibly disappointed. Even tho you had a specific time for your meeting, I was placed with 15 other students waiting for their accounts to be opened. Instead of my meeting (supposed to be for 30 minutes) I spent there 1:45, waiting in line while 2 (YES 2 PEOPLE) were taking care of international students. The third one was doing nothing. There was no water, no service was offered, no one told you anything, the staff was only speaking dutch to each other and making us uncomfortable by laughing all the time at something they have said in dutch. I would definitely expect Groningen to be more prepared for students from different countries when you KNOW the flow will be even bigger than last year. With the services in Groningen I have to say I am way more than disappointed and for that I would definitely warn people before they come here that the service here is utterly poor.

I am really suprised that there that much negative comments about the bank service. I have been in 3 different braches of ING. All the staff is very fast and reply your needs very quickly. Especcially in this branch; they were really helpful and friendly. The way they were speaking was very clear and they solved my problems in a right way. I do not know where all those negative comments are coming from. But this bank has the best and fastest service. They dont even let you to wait there hours and hours. Give you the exact time that they can help you. Good team. Success..

Went to ING to open a bank account. A staff member came to me and asked me how she may help. I asked to open a bank account. She said I have to come on another day. “We have too many people.” I asked if I could make an appointment. “No, sorry you have to come on another day.” There’s no way I’m walking into a bank every day to see if they might have time for a customer. I walked to another bank to open a bank account. Very disappointing service from ING.

I've used ING services for more than a year and it works well and fast. The only unpleasant thing was when they charged me for my 'free' student account for a few months because the assistant gave me wrong directions on how to prove my study status. However, the support team guided me to resolve this. However, note that to open a new account, you need to schedule an appointment at their office around 2-3 weeks in advance and then wait for a few letters that arrive within one week to activate everything.

They recently finished remodeling. They’ve added a cafe and removed the machines were you can put cash into your account. This means I have to use a machine in a dark corner by the Grote Markt! Bring back the machines to the branch! I would be nice not to get mugged.

Paying within the Netherlands is reliable. However, support and many other services work horribly. Don’t ever rely on the money transfer abroad, they take a (inadequately large) fee and don’t do transfer with no fee refund. The payments work ok in shops but the processing time takes days not minutes which is an insane speed for a bank in the 21st century.

Even though it was not possible for me to open a bank account here, the customer service woman took a lot of time to try to help me and explained all the details of why it was not possible. I really appreciated that. The lobby is warm and inviting. They have a little Cafe with tea and an attendant. I must say that I'm sorry I can't bank here.
