One of two Jewish cemeteries in Eindhoven. Very old, started in 18th century. About 330 graves. Het was Joden vroeger verboden om zich in Eindhoven te vestigen. Ze mochten er zelfs niet overnachten. Daarom sommeerde Stadhouder Willem V in 1772 om aan deze praktijk een einde te maken. De Joden werden echter pas in 1796 gelijkberechtigd aan andere burgers. Het oorspronkelijke verbod leidde ertoe dat Joden zich vestigden in de omliggende dorpen en men kende Joodse begraafplaatsen en synagogen in Helmond en Tongelre.

They were not even allowed to spend the night there. That is why Stadholder summoned Willem V in 1772 to put an end to this practice. However, the Jews were not given equal rights to other citizens until 1796. The original prohibition resulted in Jews settling in the surrounding villages and Jewish cemeteries and synagogues were known in Helmond and Tongelre.
