β β β β β This was one of the worst experiences I had in an Hotel.
1. Although I had the reservation confirmation, there was no room available for me in Ambassador City Centre Hotel (from what i understood, same owner). After around 1h30 they finally arrange a studio in Joops.
2. This studio was more expensive and they didn't want to make the same price that was in the reservation.
3. The studio was old, not confortable and had some equipment that was either damaged or not fully cleaned.
4. No wifi because there was an IT issue.
5. Noise coming from the heating system during all night.
Avoid if possible.

β β β β β Such a great location and spacious apartment gave way to rapid disappointment. The hotel is up front about their two star rating so our expectations were moderate when we booked. The hotel is an annex to the Ambassador hotel where you check in. Then we walked a ways to the Joops entrance and worked our way though the maze of halls and steep stairs to our room.
While spacious it's a really odd layout with two bedrooms, a tiny toilet, separate shower and what seemed to be part of a kitchen. The carpet is ratty rust color with stains. An odd collection of furniture. The beds were fine and sheets clean.
Note that the internet is barely usable. We were able to connect and could only manage to download email. Browsing frequently timed out and forget about streaming. This was really frustrating as one assumes hotels have sorted out how to provide internet in 2018. We gave up and switched to using our phones.
There is no air conditioning but a fan was provided. If everything else is booked in town, you might consider staying here.

β β β β β Some things to know:
β’ Check in is around the corner at the Ambassador City Hotel. Go there first.
β’ A taxi cannot get to Joops Hotel. Go to Ambassador Hotel first. See above.
β’ Desk staff was friendly.
β’ The hotel has an elevator but some rooms can only be accessed via a spiral stair. This is not easy with luggage. It would also be difficult for elderly or disabled.
β’ There is a youth hostel/student hotel just outside/below rooms in the back. The students may be outside drinking and talking until 4amβ as we observed and heard. On the other side of the hotel, above the active street, there may be noise through the night as well.
β’ Our room had thin curtains that wouldnβt close well. This is a problem in the summer when it is light late into the night and very early in the morning.
β’ The bathroom was fine.
β’ Our rooms were drab and inelegant, although the beds were fine (with exception of concern below).
β’ Two of my children woke up with insect bitesβ about 8 bites each. We had the windows open as it was warm. Maybe it was mosquitoes. (Maybe it was bed bugs.)
β’ Although the location is central and convenient, I think it was overpriced and I would not stay there again, although I would consider the Ambassador.

β β β β β Spectacularly DISAPPOINTED. That would sum up our visit to Joops. We visited there with my elderly parents and our toddler. Despite stating on their facilities that Joops has elevators and accessibility to disabled, they fail to state that this is only true of some rooms. Which meant that my elderly parents had to climb up 2 flights of narrow circular stairs. We also had to carry our luggage and baby stroller up those stairs. The rooms only have the bare essentials, one bed lamp for 4 people. The kitchenette is basically a bare room with a sink and running water. NO cups, no mini refrigerator (which we specifically made sure about when booking, because my mother is a diabetic and her insulin needs to be kept cold.) When we reported this, the hotel staff just said sorry they were fully booked and that we couldn't get any other room. (we booked months in advance, so it isn't as though we just rocked up and started demanding things.)
This hotel is NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY, (or at least our room was not) it does not have accessibility for disabled visitors, it does not have anyone on site to assist, it does not provide more than one key card, it has no air-conditioning.
So if you want lots of stairs, a bed, one bed lamp and running water for a few hundred euros, then this is the place for you. But I would give this hotel a skip if you have a family or any specific needs.

β β β β β Bad experience. Room is overpriced (Β£100/night) and basic . Cleaners do not do their job properly,"forgetting" to make the bed or clean the bathroom. The Hotel staff, the same as Ambassador Hotel, has no idea on how to reach out to clients. WiFi unusable. If you don't mind all these downfalls, the location is very good. The worst part is the impression that the staff and the direction could not care less. All in all, bad experience

β β β β β Very nice location, people are friendly at the front desk. The rooms are nicely clean, and they have laundry machines in the hotel. The rooms are a little plain, the beds are a little uncomfortable because it is two single beds pushed together, this makes for problems when your partner is staying with you. But overall I have stayed with them for years. And I recommend the hotel. I would like to thank them for their contribution when staying with them..
Best regards to all the staff..

β β β β β The room wasn't very clean - it didn't look vacuumed or mopped for several days. And the cleaning staff only came in at 7pm on our second evening there and we had already run out of toilet paper and came back for the days adventures to unmade beds and an untidy room.
Otherwise, nothing major to complain about. The wifi initially wasn't working but when we reported it, it was fixed by the next day. It's a very simple, nothing fancy hotel but the beds were comfortable and we were happy enough with our stay.

β β β β β I'll give this 3 stars not because it's a 3 star hotel but because it does simple cheap accommodation well. It's a no frills single room in the middle of town. Clean and well maintained. Slippery bathroom floor. Stairwell smells a bit but it's perfectly clean, may have been strange industrial chemicals.
