Great supermarket right outside Leiden central train station. The staff were extremely helpful with helping me locate certain items of grocery I wanted to buy. I was also able to buy stamps from Jumbo for the postcards I sent to the U.K.

EDIT 19/10/2021 - I couldn't believe my eyes when the cashier appeared to be feeling cold, had a clear sniffy red nose and kept on coughing into her hand before sliding people's groceries through the belt! Pandemic ain't over.. have complaints = stay home especially when IN contact with so many people EDIT 28/06/2021 - Due to ongoing pandemic I feel like this supermarket hardly complies with safety rules. It's very difficult to keep 1.5 meters distance from others, and the sanitising gel dispenser was even empty (around 10am morning. In general I like Jumbo as a supermarket (they have a very good one in Lange Voort which is much more spacious and well care for) but unfortunately, this one in the current times is best avoided unless you visit on the wee hours on Sunday) - specially now that Face Masks are not mandatory They do have nice products here (the biological spelt bread is very good). Fruit is usually nice and ripe too. But it is too small for the onslaught of students who come here, due to the convenient location by the train station. It is a small place so it's meant for quick and small shopping. Try avoiding 17:30-18:30 period at all costs during the week. Sometimes the queue stretches around the fruit and vegetablBe baskets which makes shopping a painful and frustrating experience, even if you're just looking for a handful of things for dinner.

Terrible experience. There is no one cleaning/desinfecting the baskets nor the carts, there is no desinfection remedy to do it yourself and they demand that you have that dirty basket. When I explained that I will not touch it due to the unhygien, she said yes well then you can't enter. While it is their responsibility to ensure that those are clean just as much it's mine to take it, actually more.

If they would still apply the "5th+ in line gets it's groceries for free" rule here they would go out of business. Also do not feel like the staff is doing an effort to solve this..

Nice supermarket. Cheap, good, diversity. nice location. More choices than the near other supermarket. And reasonable price. Fresh veges.

It's not very good, but they have proper products. They once had a rule that if there are more than x persons in line you get your groceries for free. In the 12 years I live here I have never ever seen that work. They say that every line (every paystation) needs to have x amount of people. Sooo. They just "close" a few of them. Or they are "out of order". Or.. "corona rules, 1.5m distance. Closed." "Not enough employees. Closed." Result: massives waiting lines up till end of store. No one is getting compensated. It's near the train station, so people are annoyed because of the waiting. Missing trains or busses. They might even have removed that one rule, because they are never ever going to open all lines... (maybe it happened once as fas as I remember) Sad really. If they wanted, they could just fix the waiting lines. They just don't seem to want that. Which is my main annoyance. The quality of employees really depends on who you talk to. Some can barely communicate at all. Some are just overworked, tired or look like they are held captive. And a few (I think it was where they make the bread) are actually very friendly. As for the products. They are fine. Quality I mean. Never had any bad products. They don't have everything, and a lot of times there are empty shelves. Let's just say it looks messy at times. On the other hand. It's a supermarket. Who cares. If they'd fix the waiting lines I'd give it 3.5 maybe even 4 stars. So yeah, bottom line. Super busy, crowded, supermarket. Only go there if you really need something.
