The history of LIMIS started around 2000 with the laparoscopic surgery (surgical team) of the Medical Centre Leeuwarden (MCL).
LIMIS was established to make innovative laparoscopic technology generally available for surgeons using side-by-side training. In the last decade the focus has shifted towards research and development of new technologies and the valorization of knowledge into products. Since 2020 a synergetic partnership was formed with ZiuZ-Visual Intelligence company for co-development of medical devices, and possibly on more business aspects.
