★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Het beeld op de hoek van de Lage Gouwe en het Regentesseplantsoen: “man draagt ezel”/ “Jack-Ass”. Sinds 1998 staat het beeld, gemaakt door Gijs Assmann, op dit prachtige plekje in Gouda. Het beeld staat voor de omgekeerde wereld. Op een beeldende manier probeert het te zeggen: “mijn rug op”.
De uitgemergelde man verwijst naar het Regentesseplantsoen. Deze plek werd vroeger het galgenveld genoemd, omdat daar de ter dood veroordeelde mensen naar toe werden gestuurd.
The statue on the corner of the Lage Gouwe and the Regentesseplantsoen: "man carries donkey" / "Jack-Ass". Since 1998 the sculpture, made by Gijs Assmann, has been on this beautiful spot in Gouda. The image represents the inverted world. In an expressive way, it tries to say "my back."
The emaciated man refers to the Regentesseplantsoen. This place used to be called the gallows field, because the people sentenced to death were sent there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bijzonder beeld....man met een ezel op z'n rug. Is trouwens ook een goede locatie voor een momentje van rust en bezinning aan de waterkant. De trappen nodigen uit om er even uit te rusten, voordat je verder gaat langs de mooie grachten van Gouda.
