About Mappa

2nd time here. I went there on a Saturday for lunch cause I liked it before, this time with 5 people. Crowded, but relaxed atmosphere. Service was ok, staff friendly but slow. The lunchfood was bad, half empty piadina. The first time here was during the week: way better service and great raviolli and Gnocchi.

One of the most welcoming restaurants in Amsterdam. Simple yet cosy decorations, tasty food with good (sometimes big) portion, this place definitely worths more than one time visit, especially because they change menus by season. Recommend all the Raviolis, pulled pork is still my favorite but it’s only for winter. Lamb is pretty good and tender, mega size as well!

An amazing place for having food and drinks. It's beautiful and cozy, plus service was nice and prices are reasonable. Anyway, I couldn't believe the taste of the food, I almost felt back in Italy! You have to try the caprese salad. Also take into consideration that portions are small so preferably enjoy quite a few dishes for sharing so you'll be able to try more. I would suggest to go for dinner, all the restaurants around are really bad and usually their kitchen section closes up early. But this one stays open and ambience it's just perfect for a romantic evening or a calm chill out.

Mappa, two mains, 2 cocktails, two glasses of wine, 1 water bottle: €62. Searching through parallel back streets in Amsterdam reveals a lot but a decent Italian restaurant with a good cocktail and wine list delivered by charming service was not expected. Mappa is not β€˜pizza pasta’, it’s not Tuscan trattoria. It’s a semi greatest hits of popular Italian items: carpaccio, panzanella salad, caprese salad, tiramisu β€” and yes, there’s pizza and pasta. It’s an open space with pale walls accented by olive green rich curtains framing floor to ceiling windows allowing soft light in complimented by homely light features. Two and four seater tables plus a large central communal table in the spirit of big Italian family eating. We started with their sweet and sleuth lethal limoncello cocktail with woody thyme flowers: a revelation and summer in a glass. Our waitress was personable, encouraging us to try things and attentive despite being the sole waitress in a large restaurant. The goats cheese ravioli is rich, deep in umami with its coating of aged cheese and fresh bright hints with asparagus. The sundried tomato is a classic pairing for goat cheese so the whole dish works; a bit safe, but works. The pea ravioli with celeriac, green peas and lemon cashew sauce is vegan and a plate of spring; however, it is very under seasoned needing a lot more salt, pepper and a slick of olive oil. It would also benefit from mint or another herb to lift the dish further. Overall Mappa was an enjoyable experience. The food was inconsistent but there’s promise. The drinks are enjoyable and the service is charming. I would come back nonetheless if not just for the limoncello cocktails.

Good food and flavors, but service was a bit hit or miss. I had to ask several times to get a glass of wine (15 min to pour it), got the wrong pasta dish delivered and did not know pizza was on the menu despite us seeing it on another guest’s table
