Definitely a really bad experience for me, I wouldn't recommend it to ANY students. First of, the communication between the agency and the tenants is lacking, urgent e-mails are answered the next day or a couple days after (ex when the heater in my room did not work in the dead of winter and left me sleeping in 12 degrees). The house itself was in really bad condition and definitely not suited for six students to live in. One of my roommates actually had the rent evaluated and they found he was grossly overpaying. The cleaning service is inexistent and when we complained, they told us we needed to pay 50€ more per month so they could hire another company (and this after the contract was signed of course). They are incompetent and very rude, when communicated with. It also turned out that the house was not following the regulations for fire safety. We complained several times that the smoke detectors needed to be replaced as the batteries themselves could not be replaced. They told us that the landlord did not want to replace them (though it is their legal responsibility, but 'let them burn' I guess...). It had to take the fire department to come to our house after the fire alarms went crazy for them to actually take action in replacing them. This happened near the end of my contract. When I got my deposit back (thankful to get any money back to be honest) I noticed that more than 100€ were not returned. When I e-mailed them, they told me it was for the cost of replacing the smoke detectors. This got me seriously mad as: 1) it is THEIR legal responsibility to make sure that the house is in order, and even though I agree that some costs should be for the tenants to bear, ensuring the BASIC SAFETY of the house is NOT one of those, and 2) when we checked my room at the end of my contract, I asked if it was good (no doubt that it was since I repainted the whole thing and cleaned every corner of it to avoid any unjustified complaints from them), they told me 'yes, of course, it's perfect' and ensured me that I would get my deposit back, even though I mentioned the smoke detectors needing replacement. Hence my review here. I would hate for another unsuspecting student to be tricked by their little company and having a terrible experience because of it. It is only because I could not be bothered that I did not file a lawsuit to get my money back (and because the Dutch administration is quite slow). PS: MijnHuis en Ik, do not bother replying to this comment or sending me a private e-mail regarding this, I know it's true, you know it's true, I am trying to warn people off and be a good citizen.

Were very nice up until the contract was signed and we were locked in, then they were terrible. Illegally charged me agency fees, and then lied to our faces about the contract when they fully knew we couldn't speak Dutch, and then only realized this when we had a Dutch friend look over the contract later. They take advantage of foreign students knowing this is their first rented property, that they are not familiar with the housing laws in the Netherlands, and don't have parents and family around to help them or advocate for them. And it was nightmare trying to get our deposit back. They insisted that we paint the house (even though it was painted two years ago, and was in fine condition), and after much back and forth we finally agreed to this, just to be out of there, as long as we were provided receipts (as in the Netherlands it is the law to do so). They wouldn't let us do it ourselves, as they said they didn't think we would do a good job, and said we had to hire their people instead of finding a service ourselves, which would cost 600 euros + the cost of paint. Again, at this point we were so frustrated with this incompetent and shady company that we just wanted to be out of there so we said it was fine, as long as we could get a receipt. They then said we couldn't get a receipt, as they were using an illegal service and that if we had gone through an official service which could issue as receipt, it would be more than 2000 euros (for painting around 60m2 white). They also forced us to hire a cleaning lady after we moved out, which we were also never issued a receipt for. And when we finally received the remainder of our deposit, we calculated the costs ourselves and we realized they had shortchanged us, and we received less than we were actually owed. And those were just the major problems, we also had many minor ones (such as our washing machine not working for two months, us telling them multiple times, and absolutely nothing being done about it, one of my roommates showing up late at night from Germany and told the keys were in a locked postbox when they weren't and she ended up having to get a hotel, etc). Nightmare company to deal with, and when we went into the office once they were screaming a foreign student. Not professional at all, and only there to exploit international students. I went with a private landlord in my second year which I found through Kamernet, and have had no problems since. Avoid at all costs! Normally I wouldn't write such a detailed review, however it seems as though they have hired or offered an incentive for people to post 5 star reviews as multiple ones have appeared in the last week. Save yourself the stress I went through and find an honest private landlord, rather than an agency, who only care about money.

To any future tenants good luck and brace for impact... As can be expected from such an agency, they will penalise any issue upon moving out. But what is much more remarkable is with how much disrespect employees of this agency treat tenants. Following a dispute, the employee lost any decency and was far from professional. This behaviour is unbelievable and I hope the subordinates take action. *Reply to owner: As should have been clear from my first comment the main issue is with the disrespect you can expect. For further information ask Ms Damman to disclose some of her correspondences. No matter what issues she may have with tenants, it is highly unprofessional to communicate the way she does.

I had a very good experience with MIJN HUIS as an agency. They really put an effort on finding a nice home for me and now that I got a studio with their help I am more than pleased. When I have problems or questions I have a reference person who is always answering me kindly and reliably. I am glad that I chose this agency because they made me feel comfortable and homelike here in Maastricht

Our first contact with Mijn Huis en Ik, which was during the viewing of our to-be apartment, was friendly and overall positive. After we figured out we paid too much rent for our apartment according to the Huurcommissie, this positive impression changed. Unfortunately, the staff member who was responsible for our apartment in the beginning stopped working there. The new person responsible for us, was very unfriendly, rude and turned out to be very biased in favour of the landlords. From this moment onwards, communication has been unpleasant and we did not feel taken seriously, as she mostly spoke with us in an almost screaming manner, like we were misbehaving children.

When I asked for the availability of the studio I want to view, I clearly asked whether one cat is allowed and got a positive answer. Then I travelled a long time to view and suddenly got an answer that cat is not allowed (it is also the reason for rejection). If I have been informed about it in the first place, I won't even waste half day just to view it. It give me a quite bad experience, therefore I consider their service is not professinal.

Run away from these fraudulent people. They are the worst housing agency there is in Maastricht. Don’t follow laws or covid rules. They don’t have the official housing agency certificate. So they abide by no rules at all. They discriminate on people color and background and use interns to do their dirty jobs. They sell your personal info as well to movers.
