β β β β β Monsieur Rouge is named after its owner and is in the style of a petite French restuarant/ cafe.
The space is small and cozy, with the seating even extending into the kitchen (there's a term for this that I can't remember).
The food is fantastic. So is the wine, and the coffee beans come from amsterdam. The owner and his friends are incredibly nice and welcoming. I felt like I was among friends during my dinner.
I couldn't recommend this place more.
Proost!

β β β β β A tiny piece of Paris landed in Haarlem! Great place, well-prepared, traditional French food (with a tasty vegan alternative), very friendly staff and although we are not dessert lovers, the chocolat moelleux is to die for!

β β β β β We read many good reviews on Monsieur Rouge and decided to head there for brunch on a sunny afternoon. Located at a lovely spot overlooking the river with a cozy ambience, it is a really cute place. The staff were friendly and the cappuccino was delicious. However, we were aghast when the food was served. We started with a croissant which looked like it has been a few days old and reheated. It was soft, limp and almost soggy. Next when the banh mi and the pΓ’tΓ© arrived, it was served with a super low quality crumbly bread that only resembled baguette in shape. The food quality, unfortunately, was equally low and you can get the stuff at a supermarket and still assemble a higher quality of food than what they had served. It was mind boggling how a 'French brasserie' could fail so miserably in the 2 most basic things: a croissant and a baguette. We rarely offer bad reviews but Monsieur Rouge has been a let down in terms of food quality (other than the coffee). It is such a pity given this is a very lovely spot. We really hope the management look into the feedback and up the game for the food.

β β β β β Very cozy place with delicious bites and dessert and nice channel view. We tried quiche, camembert in oven and lava dessert with a good glass of wine. Everything was perfect!

β β β β β Beautiful inside art deco design with seating along the canal and road. Perfect to watch the people go by and enjoy the architecture of the city.
I had salmon and spinach sandwich with fresh tomatoes. It had very chunky bread and tasted delicious. Service is quick and prices are descent.
