★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Deze statige, vrijstaande villa is gebouwd in 1876 in een eclectische bouwstijl met elementen uit de Hollandse neorenaissance- en chaletstijl. Oorspronkelijk werd het bewoond door Betje Spanjaard - Van der Wijk, een lid van de bekende Spanjaard – familie. Mogelijk is het huis ontworpen door architect G. Beltman die toen al voor de familie Spanjaard werkte.
Het woonhuis is een Rijksmonument, gelegen tegenover restaurant Dorset, voormalig Villa Elisabeth, aan de rand van “Oud Borne”, een beschermd dorpsgezicht binnen het centrum.
Monumentaal in de villa zijn de trapopgang, de marmeren schouw en het plafond met ornament in de voorkamer, en de kleurrijke voor- en zijgevel. Ook de originele glas-in-loodramen zijn behouden gebleven. De achterkant van het huis is in 1938 uitgebreid met een aanbouw.
 This stately, detached villa was built in 1876 in an eclectic architectural style with elements of the Dutch Neo-Renaissance and chalet style. Originally it was inhabited by Betje Spanjaard - Van der Wijk, a member of the famous Spanjaard family. The house may have been designed by architect G. Beltman, who already worked for the Spanjaard family at the time.
The house is a national monument, located opposite restaurant Dorset, former Villa Elisabeth, on the edge of “Oud Borne”, a protected village view within the center.
Monumental in the villa are the staircase, the marble fireplace and the ceiling with ornament in the front room, and the colorful front and side facade. The original stained glass windows have also been preserved. The back of the house was expanded in 1938 with an extension.
