β β β β β Small museum, showcasing the life & assasination of willem orange. There is also a porcelain exhibit amd some paintings of dutch masters kept in a room upstairs (the floor is super creaky and takes away from admiring the pieces of art)

β β β β β Why aren't the Dutch speaking Spanish? Because this is the house where Dutch resistance started and the formation of the independent Dutch country began. This museum depicts beautiful paintings that tells the story of the 80 year long war against the Spanish for independence.
The estate that houses the museum was owned by William of Orange. The one who promoted the rebellion against the Spanish. It has some beautiful hidden architectural features like chiseled artwork on bricks behind a firestove and bullet holes from an assassination attempt against him.
It also shows paintings from an artist that specialised in daily social life of the Dutch and there is a wing about the famous blue Delftware.
Great information with a free audiotour. Definitely worth the visit if you want to know more about the formation and struggles of the Netherlands to become their own free nation.

β β β β β The museum sits in a complex with the Wallon church and a garden/grave site. The garden is beautifully manicured with benches to sit and enjoy the view. The Wallon church is very austere. There is a preekstoel worth getting a glance at. The museum has a permanent collection as well as temporary exhibitions. The gift shop and restaurant round out the experience.

β β β β β Small museum but really interesting exhibits on William of Orange and silverware (surprising to me as Iβm usually not into the latter usually). All translated into English. Iβm glad the ticket lady convinced me to get the audioguide for β¬2.50 bc it definitely enhances the experience. I was there overall about 1.5 hours so whilst I think β¬12.50 is still pretty steep for that short a time, I still learned a lot. Beautiful courtyard outside the museum as well with a great cafe.

β β β β β The museum is small and the collections are pretty chaotic. The staff was rude and refused to speak to us in English. We were constantly supervised by them, so we could not properly enjoy the exhibitions. Disappointed

β β β β β This museum is very rich in its collection though not that big. Still it took me 2,5 hours to see the exhibits and enjoy the atmosphere of William the Silent (Willem van Oranje) epoch. I think that itβs worth including it into your must see list when you are in Delft.

β β β β β Chaotic museum. Had to backtrack several times, signs are weirdly placed. Some signs suggest a painting that isnβt there (see photo). The best (the Delft master collection) is hidden as a side show. Some weird inclusion of modern women of Delft? What do they have to with the Dutch revolution? Feels like a last minute after thought to satisfy modern feelings?
