Windswept, remote. Decent visitor centre. Lots of wildlife.

The say there are too many grazing animals here. After going several times I still haven't seen one.

It is the national nature and wildlife reserve, and visitors may see various types of birds, cow, deer, and other animals. It is especially an excellent place for bird watchers, because it has vast area of marsh. It seems that government does try hard to plant new trees in various "bos" (botanical garden) area. The reserve offers free access to visitors, but its basic infrastructures- such as reserve map sign, road signs, exit sign and walking distance to the nearest bus stop, exit direction or toilets- as of April 2019, are not mature, not existent, or ready for out of town or foreign country visitors. Although there are a few simple direction signs for visitors, they sometimes lead visitors to the deadend of the road. Also, there is no emergency call system; thus, the reserve is not suitable for female hiker or visitor without any companion. For foreign visitors, the reserve's limited number of sign is not helpful for them because it doesn't have English explanation or translation. Visitors from Amsterdam can take Sprinters or IC trains to Almere, Buiten, or Oostvaarders and take M2 Bus (in frequent schedule of less than 10 minutes waiting time) and get off at (Almere Buiten) Oostvaardersbuurt stop; then, follow road sign to enter the reserve area. While biking can be super for the reserve area, there is No bike rental store outside or inside the reserve area. Also there is No food service store near reserve entry area as of April 2019, when not many Netherlanders visit the reserve, lest than the foreigners. Because there's no toilet for most of the reserve area, visitors may have to use food stores of the train stations. However, toilet of the Buiten Station does not accept changes, and the only currency or financial instrument which is accepted is teain chip-value charge card.

Absolutely gorgeous place to see the sunset or just admire the nature. You can have a picnic at the tables as well. Totally recommended for a nice walk in any weather.
