Tantan men was not authentic. It wasn’t spicy either. It’s noodles with loads of peanut sauce. You can’t taste the vegetables. The portion is generously noodles. Tiny bit of meat. It seems like a good place to chill for a beer with friends. The matcha ice cream did not taste like matcha at all. It had a milk tea after taste and a minty finish. I was really looking forward to the ice cream. It was unfortunate. Perhaps the food here suits more to Dutch taste buds. Three stars because the staff was pretty friendly.

Would recommend this spot. Tonkistsu was banging, pork was popping but my girlfriend got spicy miso because she’s a veggie and that was also great! Think the vegetarian Gyoza was a dark horse, came through with a wicked sauce. Hit this spot up and you’ll have a good time.

They have delicious ramen! My favorite is Tonkotsu. The broth is thick and tasty. The pork is tender with a bit of fat which is perfect. Tatsuta is nice too. Highly recommended!

This was my second time at Otemba and I'll definitely be back. My favourite is the spicy miso - it's the best ramen I've had in Amsterdam! As soon as I leave I get the craving to go back again ;) The service was great too, and there wasn't a long wait for the food. Would definitely recommend!

Delicious broth, meat and vegetables, just a pity the bowl was ultra-filled with noodles. Were they to have replaced half of the noodles with broth, this would have been a bit more enjoyable. The Tan Tan Men ramen did have a very peanuty taste - which I was warned of beforehand by the waiter. I can’t comment on the authenticity of the taste too much but it was quite fusiony. Overall it was pretty pleasant and worthy of good reviews, but I can see how their offering can be a bit divisive.

I may have tried all the new ramen places in Amsterdam since I came back in Nov 2021. And for me, Otemba is still my favourite for the overall experience, from flavours to the vibe. It's like ramen meets Amsterdam without trying too hard. I like all their ramen. The tonkotsu is always a winner. I like that they were brave enough to serve a proper pork ramen in a city where chicken ramen seems to be the default, the broth is delicious and the chasiu has the right tenderness and flavours to it (and not too fatty). I wish they would use thin noodles as in Ichiran or Ippudo in Japan, but nevertheless the noodles they use is sufficient. It's not soggy and has a good bite to it. My other favourite is their 'Amsterdam ' gyoza, stuffed with langoustine with shaved Old Amsterdam cheese. I need to have this everytime I order. Another surprise was the tatsuta. It is essentially just fried chicken but the twist they gave to it, Dutch mayo and haring caviar, elevated this dish. I also like that they have mannenliefde, brewdog punk ipa beers on tap. Their tantanmen with duck was also memorable. Anyhow, if you like a relaxed ramen place where you don't have to queue outside or feel like you are being rushed or smell like the kitchen after eating, then Otemba is your place. I really like how they owned their version of ramen. I think it's true to its roots without trying to be too fusion-ish. Great addition to the Amsterdam (limited but growing) food scene.

- Flavours are good, and portions well sized. Small menu, which shows they can focus on the items they have on offer. Having said that, it is not your authentic ramen; definitely adapted to local tastes. Still...I enjoyed it :) - Nice decor and ambiance - Warm, welcoming waiting staff Highly recommended!

Very stylish interior and lovely staff. Almost 17 eur for a ramen, portion is decent but both tonkotsu (overcooked pork and not slowed cooked broth so no depth) and tantanmen (way too peanuty and sate-ish) I understand it’s their take on these ramens so go check it out but don’t look for authentic ramen there. Bonus is their veg spicy miso ramen which we didn’t try. Their Amsterdam prawn gyoza starter was very nice, topped with old Amsterdam cheese.
