β β β β β Next to Kashmir Coffeeshop, featuring rotisserie chicken, various fruit & veg, etc. Occasionally rare fruits like passion, dragon, etc...

β β β β β Not really what you expect of a 'persian' supermarket. It is more a tourist focused supermarkt than being specialized in persian products.

β β β β β I felt from the reviews and photos that there would be iranian products but it was super limited and disappointing. Better go to dappermarkt and try the middle eastern stores for iranian ingredients.

β β β β β Nestled between the bead shop and Les Deux FrΓ¨res men's clothing store, roughly midway on Rozengracht, on the same side as Westerkerk, is the Persian Supermarket.
At the entrance is a rotisserie grill on stilts which, for some time now, houses two plastic chickens - a great pity, because when it was formerly in use, the store supplied delicious roast chicken, with enticing and inviting smells to enter the premises. The entrance is also home to several refrigerators packed with beer and soft drinks, and a fruit section with citrus fruits, grapes and pomegranates and a small selection of vegetables.
Inside the store itself are further refrigerators with dairy produce, ice-cream and various fruit juices in cartons including pomegranate and sour cherry juice, the latter being much demand by gout sufferers and insomniacs due to the high melatonin content.
Persian cuisine is one of the oldest in the world and it makes great use of fresh and dried herbs, in addition to spices. Here you can usually find everything to stock your Persian pantry.
The store appears to have a mind of its own. Sometimes the shelves are stocked with a wide range of products from household necessities to spices, roasted pistachios and other nuts, tinned Foul Medames beans, tahini, wine, rosewater, syrups, jams and sweets. At other times, these appear almost empty.
The store is popular with those looking for cigarettes after the supermarkets and tobacco shops have closed. The shop's owner always has a smile and a wave for 'regulars' and is extremely helpful.
One item which always appears to be plentiful is Hani brand ready made Persian meals with no preservatives, great for the novice Persian chef, or anyone wishing to explore Persian food at home.
At the rear of the store is a collection of water pipes, Middle Eastern tapestry, coffee tables, serving trays, decorative items. Shoes and slippers.
The Iranian saffron icecream is heavenly.
Persian Supermarket can be a life-saver for those needing late evening groceries.
