β β β β β Ended up here by chance after our chosen restaurant refused to honour our reservation, and what a stroke of luck! A perfect bistro experience. Short menu but everything on it absolutely perfectly executed - rillettes, charcuterie plate, escargots bourguignonne, sardines on toast and perfectly grilled cote de boeuf. Decent and decently priced predominantly French wine list. Only slight blemish was a slightly anaemic creme caramel that lacked any bronzy lustre to the sauce - but a very minor point.

β β β β β A great place to have a great dinner! This restaurant is definitely worth the five stars. Everything from start to finish is beyond expectation and a true joy for the food lovers.

β β β β β Probably ruddest service I've experienced in recent memory. Following a 35 minute wait for the Cote de Beouf we got a large, pretty but cold steak - with the accompanying purree even colder. Amazed, we asked to return it. A new waiter then showed up at our table and promised it just needs a few more minutes of cooking (?!) so we gave it a try. What we then received was unevenly cooked, with the first bite well done and second being cold still.
What then followed was a first for me - and I've been around - the waiter rudely asked to TOUCH it and check if it's indeed cold as we claim! At that point we angrily asked for the check - which quickly arrived with the steak dish in it! The waiter claimed he "gave us a special price". At that point the waiter also commented that a Cote de Boeuf takes 45 minutes to prepare and we should've known that (we've been there for 1.5 hours at that point, finished two terrific starters and a bottle of wine). The waiter also rudely asked where we are from, clearly hinting that our nationality might be the reason we asked to return the dish.
Not wanting to make a scene we ended up paying for a dish we didn't eat.
A real shame as the rest of the food, wine and ambience were all great and we got a few recommdations for the place. We actually ended up finishing our dinner at the next door restaurant which will receive its own separate review.

β β β β β Its indeed the best meat Ive eaten in Amsterdam but today's experience simply turned down my expectations on the restaurant. We tried to make a reservation yesterday and was informed the bar didn't accept reservations. Today we arrived at the restaurant and for our surprise we couldnt sit at the bar because was all reserved. This lack of transparency and respect with customers simply overshadow the great cuisine offered by the place

β β β β β Disappointed. There's nothing french in this place except the wine list. You order a boudin noir and you get it as a nem with a sweet sauce (why?), the cold food waiting for more than 15 minutes on the counter before being served and we received the butter half eaten by a previous customer... Don't even get me started on the waiter mixing the wines discreetly in the kitchen. French bistro, are known to be friendly, smiley with a good atmosphere. It's a shame for real french bistro and cuisine. It's clearly a no!

β β β β β I gave this place a couple of chances to change my mind, but it didnβt work out.
The first time I went I had the driest duck ever - strange for a French spot.
The second time I had the worst Cote de boeuf in town. It was clear the meat was cooked while still cold. Luckily the mashed potatoes were great.
I give up now.

β β β β β Been here twice and both experiences werenβt good. The service was very unfriendly and slow. The food isnβt good quality. The cΓ΄te de beouf just wasnβt good. The salad and mayonaise were very disappointing as well. Oysters were good however. Ambiance in the restaurant is nice, but very busy/crowded.

β β β β β French Bistro style like you want to see it. From atmosphere, menu, taste, plating, location and of course staff. It fits perfectly together. This is a real nice place. And many know my 'weakness' for toilets as well ... do visit this one as well .... :-)
