β β β β β De tekescopen stonden weer mooi opgelijnt. Redelijke wandeling vanaf de kamp Westerbork museumparkeerplaats. Bijna 2,5 kilometer. Veel wetenswaardigheden over het heelal onderweg, leuk gedaan. De wandeling begint bij de dwergplaneet Pluto en eindigt bij de zon als je bij het openlucht informatie centrumpje over de telescopen aankomt. Iedere planeet staat op de juiste verkleinde afstand zoals ze in ons zonnestelsel op dezelfde afstanden staan. Als je nog een paar honderd meter verder loopt kom je aan bij het voormalige wereld oorlog II doorvoerkamp Westerbork.
 The telescopes were lined up nicely again. Reasonable walk from Camp Westerbork museum parking lot. Almost 2.5 kilometers. A lot of information about the universe on the way, nice job. The walk starts at the dwarf planet Pluto and ends at the sun when you arrive at the open-air information center about the telescopes. Every planet is at the correct reduced distance as they are at the same distances in our solar system. If you walk a few hundred meters further you will arrive at the former World War II transit camp Westerbork.

β β β β β The radio telescope of Westerbork is world famous as one of the early examples of long range radiotelescopy. The 14 big dishes are lined up handsomely in a cleared patch of the dense forest. It is easy to visit by bicycle path for example. Best to switch your cellphone off to avoid disturbance of the observations ... maybe they are just receiving signals from an alien civilization!

β β β β β Nice "milk way path" with explanations about our planets, that leads to the radio telescopes. There are also panels about upcoming Astron projects.
(Panels only in Dutch)
The path itself goes through a very pretty forest. Once at the end of the path you can also visit the concentration camp Westerbork, the entrance (free) is just next to the antennas
