★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very very yummy meal! I was not disappointed after eating here! When you order the rijsttafel it comes as three courses for 39€: salad, main (the actual main event!), dessert. I think the price is reasonable for what you get. Anyway, my daughter and I got a same day reservation on a Wednesday night by emailing the restaurant.
We were seated and greeted promptly and service was very attentive but not overbearing. We actually were there for almost 2.5 hours though! Courses were evenly spaced with a wait in between but not so long we felt neglected. So plan for a leisurely meal. You'll enjoy it all the more! The salad was so delicious even my daughter gobbled it up (she normally won't touch salad)! Each option in the rijsttafel was delicious and interesting, the desert was so good too. My daughter did have one favorite item from her rijsttafel selection that she'd like to return for and I was told she can order a "kids menu" version of that, which is perfect!
As for what to wear and how upscale a location or is (because I was worried about my jeans and soggy rain coat): despite the service being almost fine dining, and the servers being very proper and polite, it was also friendly and not pretentious. Many patrons were in jeans. But there were also some more dressed up. As long as you don't have shorts or work or clothes on, that goes anywhere really, you should feel comfortable.
We're definitely considering returning! It was my favorite meal in Amsterdam so far!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Incredible food, incredible service. The staff makes you at home right away and are super friendly and more than accommodative. The food follows up with that high standard and the use of flavours is superb. I definitely recommend sharing the tasting menu - you can't go wrong trying all the different dishes that they have available!

However, after all it’s about the food quality and in this case it was outstanding: we had the 3-course traditional Indonesian ‘Rijsttafel” which was cooked to perfection with here and there a subtle twist. Loved it. Loved it. This is a place for people who know to appreciate quality.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was here yesterday evening. Spend over 3,5 hours. Highlights were definitely the friendly staff (always recommending good wines to pair with the dinner) and the Indonesian fusion menu. Definitely recommend going for 5 courses if you have the time. We are both vegetarian, but that was no problem at all (chefs prepared a menu especially for this).
Also, tables left and right of us ordered the Indonesian rice table. Although we didn't taste it ourselves yet, it looked delicious and definitely coming back in a couple of months to try it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A wonderful dining experience! We did the Rijsttafel, which is a tasting menu. You get a starter...it’s a very nice and delicious chicken satay with vegetables. If you’ve ever had chicken satay skewers...it’s similar in flavor. It went really well with the vegetables.
Then comes the main course...which was 9 different dishes in smaller portions to allow for a tasting of a variety of Indonesian flavors. It’s pretty authentic Indonesian food. I must admit I’ve never actually been to an Indonesian restaurant despite visit Bali twice.
Food is great. You’ll likely enjoy some flavors more than others. Somewhat pricey but reasonable since you wouldn’t be able to get so many dishes if you ordered a la carte. Overall, a very enjoyable experience highlighted with exceptional service.
