Men moet rekening houden dar dit gebouw uit 25-100 na Christus stamt en daarmee dus bijna 2000 jaar oud is. Die fundering zal slechts een afdruk in het land zijn geweest, en later in 'ere' zijn hersteld. Je moet er rekening mee houden dat de Romeinen rond het jaar 250 vertrokken en daarna ook praktisch alle 'interesse', als daar als sprake van was, in deze bezetters verdween. Logischerwijs verdween deze villa dus met de tijd. Het is pas sinds een jaar of 100-150 dat er geleidelijke herinteresse is gekomen in de geschiedenis en het daarmee dus ook interessant werd om de fundering te herconstrueren. Voor zo ver ik weet is dit de enige fundering die zo te bezoeken is onder Leiden en dus ook makkelijk aan te fietsen is uit Delft, Den Haag en Rotterdam. Maak er geen dagtocht van, want je hebt het wél zo bekeken. I read some mixed opinions of people who think it's a shame you can't see the 'real' foundation. One must take into account that this building dates from 25-100 AD and is therefore almost 2000 years old. That foundation will have been only an imprint in the land, and later restored to 'honor'. You have to take into account that the Romans left around the year 250 and after that practically all 'interest', if any, disappeared in these occupiers. Logically, this villa disappeared with time. It has only been in the past 100-150 years that there has been a gradual re-interest in history and thus it has also become interesting to reconstruct the foundation. As far as I know, this is the only foundation that can be visited in this way under Leiden and is therefore also easy to cycle from Delft, The Hague and Rotterdam. Don't make it a day trip, because you did see it that way.

A monument was created to show the locations of the foundations of this villa. Regrettably there is no sign whatsoever with any explanation, you have to read up on the internet.
