★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We've walked down the street of Shaffy a couple of times and always wanted to try it because it looks so nice and cozy from the outside. We finally did and were glad we did. The food is really good (sour dough with butter and furikake was delish) and there's a fairly good selection of wines. The cocktails are also really good and some of them have a pretty interesting way of being served (Hazel Blazer). If you sit by the window you get an excellent view over the canal which given the time of the year is quite nice. Finally, the hostess and our waiter were very hospitable.
Definitely recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our evening started out great. Super friendly waiter, sourdough bread with whipped butter. Then for some reason the waiter changed, and we had a woman with a fierce attitude who couldn't be bothered to take our wine order. She then proceeded to rudely correcting yet another person serving us dessert (while he was serving it) because apparently, he hadn't put the plate at the right angle. Very alienating experience. Food presentation is excellent, taste good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hidden gem in the center of Amsterdam. This used to be a low end cultural debate center. It has been transformed into a high end hospitality / restaurant with cultural events in it’s core.
Very nice sunny terrace until 2 pm, nice and stylish restaurant and bar.
If you like to escape the busy tourist area’s, go here!
