About Tulip of Amsterdam
Tulip of Amsterdam is a multi-award winning guesthouse, located in an impressive Dutch Canal-house in the heart of the historic city centre. Built around 1660 during the boom of the Dutch Tulip Mania, the house still retains its historic character and charming features. We took these historic assets as our inspiration and created a unique interaction between the rich Dutch culture and contemporary convenience.
Our philosophy is to give you the typical “feel” of Amsterdam, complemented with our great service and personal attention. We can update you about all do`s and don’ts in town, tell you about local hot-spots and prevent you from overpriced tourist traps.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Greeted by one of the owners when we arrived and shown to our room. The room is beautiful and spacious complete with a vase of tulips and a complementary bottle of wine. The owners are lovely and very informative about the area - happy to give museum and restaurant recommendations. Location of the B&B is very central and easy to get to from the train station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is everything I expected and more*. The rooms are very cute (our friends stayed in the other one), and you couldn't possibly eat all the amazing things they set out for breakfast! The owners are generous, flexible, and kind. We found it very conveniently located, and there were many comfortable places to grab a drink or some food nearby. I'm sure Chris could give some wonderful restaurant recommendations. There is a tiny courtyard inside, and some cute (if skittish) cats. (The cats are not allowed into the rooms, I am significantly allergic and had no problems!). *There seems to be some small issues with the bathroom, but they took them seriously and I expect they'll be remedied before the next guests arrive! Accessibility notes: The guestrooms are up tiny, steep, winding stairs, and the various other spaces within the house are up or down a few steps. The bathrooms are very small. (All these challenges fit within the expectations of such a historic home, but I'd prefer to note them.)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed for a long weekend during the summer of 2018. The Tulip is in a great location and well placed to get out and about in the central area.
We've stayed in numerous apartments / hotels when in Amsterdam which does influence our review here. We feel as if the Tulip was merely basic. The room wasn't particularly well appointed, there also seemed a rather large amount of DIY electrical wiring etc and we just felt it was hap hazardly put together.
We had issues with the toilet flush throughout but we managed to get by.
We'd also question any thought into fire plans or escape routes, it did dawn on us that being in the loft there was merely a half open roof light and nothing more than the main stairwell to get out.
We wouldn't book again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I really had a brilliant time here. David, the host, was absolutely amazing and the room was exceptional. Every detail was looked after and I would go as far as to say thos is the best B&b I have ever stayed in. The room was much bigger then it looked on the pics and it still felt so "homely". I absolutely loved it! Will definitely be my go to everytime I visit Amsterdam. (My photos aren't great as I took stills from a video I had of the room)
