★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice view from the dike over the beautiful floodplains of the IJssel river near Welsum. After having passed by the bird watching screen you can stroll for a while through the area Katerstede near the lake. This is an old clay and sand reclamation area with beautiful views of the lake. Water birds, birds of prey, maybe you'll get lucky and spot a beaver or even an otter. Many willows and reeds, here and there rough and impenetrable. Typical Dutch river landscape.
