 No longer in use as a water tower. There is a Foucault pendulum that proves that the Earth rotates. Free to visit!

Voor mensen zonder hoogtevrees...
Heel mooi bouwwerk en alles is te bezichtigen. Je kan heel goed zien hoe alles werkte en in elkaar zat. Prachtig uitzicht bij mooi weer op zo'n 60 meter hoogte.
Well worth a visit.
For people without fear of heights ...
Very beautiful building and everything can be viewed. You can see very well how everything worked and how it worked. Beautiful view in good weather at a height of 60 meters.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Zou mooi zijn als de toren in de avond verlicht zou zijn met blauwe schijners die de gehele toren verlichten. Zou ook passen bij de 'water'toren. Zou het echt een landmark maken, denk dat inwoners er zelfs voor zouden willen doneren
Would be nice if the tower would be illuminated in the evening with blue spotlights that illuminate the entire tower. Would also match the 'water' tower. Would really make it a landmark, think residents would even donate for it

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Probably the most interesting monument of Axel. Not that old. It dates from 1936 and counts 60 meters. Robust brick architecture. Splendid views on the surrounding landscape. Terneuzen, Antwerp and Ghent are visible. A botanical garden was added recently. Afternoon visits between may and september from wednesday to saturday. In october only on saturday afternoons.
