★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Een wigbold is het gebied buiten de vroegere stadspoorten, waar ook het stadsrecht gold. De zes wigboldpalen gaven tot 1884 de grens aan tussen de gemeente Enschede en de gemeente Lonneker, beide ontstaan in de Franse tijd (1795-1814).
A wigbold is the area outside the former city gates, where city law also applied. Until 1884, the six wedgebold posts marked the boundary between the municipality of Enschede and the municipality of Lonneker, both of which originated in the French period (1795-1814).

Here was the end on the south-east side of the city of Enschede.
These type of border stones were standard in 'the old days'.
Around the centre of Enschede there are several of these stones.
There is also one on the 'Molenstraat' although the original stone has been replaced with a smal stone pole with a plaque on it.
