★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beware that you may be locked in to this insurance for a whole year. You can only opt out on January 1. Also service and what you can claim for reimbursement is really confusing. Stay away unless your Dutch is perfect.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Honestly, don’t bother choose another insurer... I have been with them for years and won’t be continuing from next year onwards! One of the most incompetent companies I’ve ever dealt with, I wouldn’t wish them and their horrific service on my worst enemy.
Choose another insurer that don’t make big mistakes like this one tends to do so, there are plenty of alternative options.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I submitted a claim 6 weeks ago and I still haven’t received an answer. A huge, critical surgery I’m having is 12 days from now and zilveren kruis still has not been able to provide me with confirmation if they will pay or not. I pay full price for medical insurance. I didn’t realize I wouldn’t be provided with the service I am paying for and deserving of. My medical needs have been up for discussion for weeks with no answers as I wait in anxiety days before my procedure.

Superb customer service that is willing to explain the Dutch basic health care insurance in details. Bonus point for foreigner: the explanation is in English!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If i could give a negative i would. Zero cover for fertility treatment, zero cover for abroad treatments and all this after giving you the green light and sending you forms to fill. Zilverenkruis messed up my only chance to have child with my husband. Found myself childless and with a massive bill to pay. Run away from this scam.
