 Nice overview of the current developments in the city of Haarlem. Entrance fee is affordable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Schuin tegenover het Frans Hals museum ligt dit centrum. Toegang momenteel € 2 en kinderen € 1,50. Vriend wordt je voor € 25 per jaar en geeft gratis toegang tot de exposities plus korting op activiteiten. Er is een legozaal voor de kinderen die niet mee willen naar het museum aan de overkant. De meeste Nederlanders spreken redelijk Engels, dus ook hier bij de vrijwilligers die dit centrum draaiende houden met steeds wisselende tentoonstellingen in de zalen en kunst in de gang. Doen!!!!
This center is diagonally opposite the Frans Hals museum. Admission currently € 2 and children € 1.50. You become a friend for € 25 per year and give free admission to the exhibitions plus a discount on activities. There is a lego room for the children who do not want to go to the museum across the street. Most Dutch people speak reasonable English, including the volunteers who keep this center running with ever-changing exhibitions in the halls and art in the hallway. To do!!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Voor wie geinteresseerd is in architectuur en planologie. De ingang wordt gedeeld met het Museum Haarlem. Tot medio oktober in dit kleinschalige centrum een presentatie van gerealiseerde projecten in Haarlem en (tamelijk wijde) omgeving van sponsors van het ABC. Een bezienswaardig overzicht met tekst, toelichting en maquettes. Ecofield is het afstudeerproject van Joyce Verstijnen waarin ze ideeën ontwikkelt om ecosystemen te versterken d.m.v. architectuur welke specifiek is ontworpen voor het landschap, flora en fauna. Interessant maar ook nogal ambitieus en tegenspraak oproepend. Verder werk van Adam Doyce Transue, Amerikaans/Nederlandse ontwerper en maquettebouwer, met name over de Amsterdamse Zuid-as.
For those interested in architecture and planning. The entrance is shared with the Museum Haarlem. Until mid-October in this small-scale center a presentation of realized projects in Haarlem and the (fairly wide) environment of sponsors of the ABC. An overview worth seeing with text, explanation and models. Ecofield is Joyce Verstijnen's graduation project in which she develops ideas to strengthen ecosystems by means of architecture specifically designed for the landscape, flora and fauna. Interesting, but also quite ambitious and contradictory. Further work by Adam Doyce Transue, American / Dutch designer and model builder, in particular on the Amsterdam South axis.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not great for tourist. No info in English and no info about historic buildings of Haarlem. Staff were friendly and there is an area where you make buildings from Lego. Great if you are a Dutch speaker and into architecture.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is wonderful to find out that a place like the ABC stands accessible in the centre of the quaint city of Haarlem. A visit would definitely not be a waste of time for those interested to find out more about the architecture around, and its history. I personally do not speak Dutch and found it refreshing that the staff spoke very good English and guided me. Printed translations are available for those who prefer to be left alone.
Well though of plan to keep children quiet by having some Lego. Having to remind parents to keep their children from disturbing others is not only embarrassing but could be unpleasant too.
There are several other activities lined up for those deeper into architecture.
