β β β β β While the salesperson was friendly, she also sold me a 350 EUR coat without mentioning that this company DOES NOT ISSUE REFUNDS IN STORES and you cannot return items bought in-store for refund anywhere else. Given how few companies operate this way (probably because it is an enormous scam and no one would / should shop at stores that operate in this manner), I am literally shocked at this and so disappointed at their lack of willingness to help customers find amenable solutions that don't leave them out hundreds of Euros. This company doesn't make anything about the customer experience easy and I would never recommend shopping here to a friend. If it were possible to give 0 stars for customer experience, I would.

β β β β β Bought an underlayer/ T shirt that went into holes after wearing it a few times . At β¬45 you expect good quality durable clothing. The manager said as I had worn it,it wasn't their policy to give refunds . I pointed out my legal rights and eventually she agreed.Very disappointed in their attitude and the quality of their clothes.

β β β β β I am speechless about an encounter I had to experience at this store today. I came to return a sweater that started having tiny knots of fabric after wearing it only once and not washing it. Hence, I was very unhappy with the quality of the sweater and wanted to make use of my right to return it as a faulty item. I entered the store and spoke to one of the employees in a very friendly way with the intention to make use of my fundamental right as the receipt states that I have 14 days to return a faulty item for a full refund. What happened after my request was quite shocking. Two employees were very rude, used a loud and unfriendly tone, and started to beg me to choose a different item instead of returning the sweater. The male employee even told me to wash the sweater in the washing machine even though the sweater's label clearly states not to do that as it would damage the sweater. This situation clearly highlighted how the staff at this store is not well trained in customer service and additionally has poor product knowledge, which resonates with the reviews I can see here on google.
I then requested to speak to the manager. The manager reacted in a very defensive manner, was extremely unfriendly, and told me that she could not help me. She simply stated that this is what happens with those sweaters and that there is nothing she can do, and she does not accept my return. When I asked her for the contact details of someone higher in charge, she said that she would not give me the contact details. Coincidentally, next to me, a woman was having the same issue, trying to get her money back because of a faulty sweater; she was even in tears. When I tried to talk to the manager again and stated that it is fundamental Dutch law, she just said that she decides if an item is faulty or not and that the lady next to me and I have two different concerns since her sweater was 250β¬ and mine was not.
So here I am, standing in front of the store manager, who bashes me for not having bought an item that is expensive enough, and I am being instructed that she is making the rules whether or not an item is in good condition or not. I again asked her for a contact person to discuss this with, and she did not want to share those details with me. Overall, this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and I am sure that American Vintage, as a global brand, would not like to be identified with that. I have found out that the store is a franchise which makes a lot of sense because that kind of behavior would not come from American vintage directly. The employees have even told me not to order items online in the past, working actively against the brand.
Since I have seen the employees working at the other locations here in Amsterdam as well, I strongly recommend ordering online only.
