β β β β β Let me start by giving some context to the review. We went to Arca for lunch during the pandemic on a regular Tuesday. So with all understanding that the situation is possibly not representative of a dinner, we left a bit disappointed. We wanted to love the concept- a 2 Michelin star chef offering Portuguese/Asian fusion (two cuisines that we love). What we experienced is a decent hotel restaurant, but nothing special/eclectic.
The food was okay, the service was friendly, the design is largely what the place was before Arca went in (generic modern), but nothing we ate left us seeking more. We paid 24β¬ for two courses which is okay, and portion sizes were fine. We were planning to come back for dinner once itβs possible, but both felt that it isnβt enough to win us over or for us to want to recommend it. We have tried many (!) of Amsterdams (fine-dining) places and I am not sure I can align with the 5 star rating ARCA has at the moment. Itβs decent, but nothing outstanding.

β β β β β So happy that we can now have chef's SΓ‘ Pessoa new restaurant in Amsterdam! I had the Portuguese Discovery experience menu and it was an amazing modern chef's interpretation of our traditional dishes! Will return soon for the Asian one!

β β β β β What a great experience last night. A restaurant with amazing Portuguese food with a twist. Being a Portuguese myself born in Amsterdam I was always let down by the Portuguese restaurants in this city. Very often they were tourist traps or they tried to serve you traditional food but of bad quality. But now, finally a great restaurant with great service and when a Portuguese that loves to eat says itβs good then you can be sure it really is! Iβd like to call out everybody to go and check this place out!

β β β β β Impeccable service, atmosphere and food. We were treated as royals, the hosts and waiters take the time to hear your wishes and check if everything is good. The kitchen is open so you can see how your dinner is prepared. All courses were delicious, the dessert was great (I was told the chef who is in charge for the desserts won "Master chef Portugal"). The ambiance is pleasant and welcoming. The toilets (which in many restaurants is a pain point) were spotlessly clean. Prices are surprisingly affordable considering the level and quality of the food. All employees are Portuguese which makes the experience authentic and true to the theme and concept of the restaurant. I will definitely go there again !

β β β β β Very cozy, informal and yet delicious restaurant by Portuguese chef Henrique SΓ‘ Pessoa, owner of the 2-stars Michelin restaurant Alma, in Lisboa. We loved this "simpler" version, very affordable for the quality, with super tasty food, meant to be shared. We went with the "Portuguese Discovery" tasting menu, adding the famous Tuna Tataki as an extra. We eventually realized it was too much food, but everything was so delicious that we didn't really mind... :-) The dishes were at the same time very delicate and hearty, soul-filling, and the two desserts were simply amazing. The staff was very friendly, also helping to choose a nice bottle of Douro to scort it all. We will definitely come back soon!

β β β β β Spectacular experience!
The food has all the Portuguese flavors in an elevated modern way. The staff is very kind and social which really made the experience better. The wine list is very nice and our waiter gave a nice recommendation. The atmosphere in the restaurant good, nice interior and an exciting open kitchen.
Highly recommended!

β β β β β The two of us ( by the way, a great Beatles song from the Let it Be album) tried 5 different starters, one main course and two desserts. Everything was perfectly prepared and tasted exquisitely. The attendance was also 10/10, with very sympathetic waiters, always ready to provide guidance or good advice.

β β β β β If you were sometime planning to travel to Portugal you can do it without leaving Amsterdam. Just for bit more than 50β¬ you can choose the authentic Portuguese path to follow. Outstanding tasting menus. Gonna come back for the second one for sure. Amazing atmosphere, amazing staff, amazing food and drinks. The only problem is that itβs quiet difficult to stop enjoying food, so prepare to gain some Portuguese weight. Open kitchen, fresh food, just UNBELIEVABLE cocktails to try. Nice selection of Portuguese drinks to try! Professionalism from hosting to cooking team. Enjoyed every single minute.
