Verrassend veel onderzoek in Burgers’ Zoo!
In Burgers’ Zoo gebeurt verrassend veel wetenschappelijk onderzoek! Er vindt natuurlijk veel gedragsonderzoek plaats, maar ook genetisch onderzoek, onderzoek naar de biodiversiteit, welzijnsonderzoek, veterinair-medisch onderzoek en ga maar zo door. Sommige onderzoeken worden door studenten en wetenschappers uit allerlei landen gedaan. Andere onderzoeken voeren we zelf uit. Dat doet ons biologenteam en de dierenarts. Bij gedragsonderzoek aan dier en mens krijgen we ook veel steun door ons eigen Citizen Science team. Deze vrijwilligers verzamelen en verwerken op ons verzoek enorm veel data.
Onderzoek doen vormt één van de hoofddoelen van ons park. We zien het als onze missie om (gedrags)onderzoek te faciliteren en initiëren om zo de kennis over dieren en hun natuurlijke omgeving te vergroten. Soms zijn onze biologen geïnteresseerd in de antwoorden op zeer specifieke vragen, waarbij de onderzoeksresultaten worden gebruikt om toekomstige beslissingen te nemen of leefomstandigheden verder te verbeteren voor de dieren. Bij andere diersoorten is in de literatuur nog niet veel bekend over bepaald gedrag en wordt hier gericht onderzoek naar gedaan. En in veel gevallen vervult Burgers’ Zoo een voortrekkersrol en is de informatie die wordt verzameld van wetenschappelijk belang om te delen met collega-dierenparken en aquaria. Niet alleen binnen ons park zetten we ons in voor onderzoek, maar ook daarbuiten.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ huge natural park with a big playground. However nothing attracted my 3 years old attention except play ground. More enjoyable for bigger children like 6-7. We loved it as adults. So crowded. I regret not bringing masks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice place to visit with kids and kids at heart. The walk ways are spacious enough to have a carefree walk with kids and some push cart. The sights were great too! There were even staffs who explain things and give trivia’s which we enjoyed a lot. We also had lunch and the food was okay. The playground for kids is nice, but surely you dont want to leave your child playing alone, since there were some unsafe corners in the area. But overall, it was a nice visit ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great visit. We camped at the zoo. The evening walk in the empty zoo with a guide was great. My kids 3 and 6 loved their walks too. Great day out with the whole family, and lots of indoor fun during the rain.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great zoo with lovely animals. Foods a bit pricey but not unexpected. Only thing I miss is benches. You will walk more than you think and it would be nice to have some resting spots :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Probably my favorite zoo I've ever been to, the animals have loads of space, are well taken care of and am absolute joy to watch!
I recommend making this a day trip since the zoo is quite big. They've got restaurants and ice cream sellers on site for when hunger strikes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been a year ticket holder for over 25 years and still love coming here. It's the best Zoo in Europe for sure. Possibly also the most expensive but I would say it's good value for money. Even on a rainy day the jungle hall, desert hall and sea aquarium (100miles from the sea) are enough for a full day trip. Bring binoculars to see all the exotic birds: The jungle hall alone is the size of a football stadium. Also nice to visit several seasons in the year so you can see the various plants flowering. The butterfly hall is new so still needs maturing but give it a few years and that too will be great. The aquarium is enormous and represents a trip through a coral sea from the shallows all the way to the deep ocean with a shark tank the size of an Olympic swimming pool.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a beautiful zoo especially like this Sunday when it was raining most part of the day. De jungle(Bush) is great fun to do with you children. The aquariums are gorgeous. Furthermore there is a huge variety in places where to eat with each having there own theme. The prices are high that is true but we'll spend.
