★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Publiek is always a good idea! Food always looks and tastes great: doesn't matter if you order a la carte, or get a surprise menu. Service is friendly and attentive. Terrace on the water creates nice atmosphere. And they keep this high level over the time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful outdoor and indoor seating with strict Corona virus Covid 19 distancing and reservations.
Restaurant "Publiek Amsterdam" is an absolutely lovely place with terrific food like self baked bread, organic products and a menu range of delicious dishes that is updated on a regular basis.
It's very relaxing seeing a swan passing by at the waterfront of restaurant "Publiek Amsterdam" while sipping a FriedHats special roast capuchino and reading books like Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones, The Edge of Reason.
Ben Plassard is the French owner that presents a very creative assortment of dishes. Free style haute cuisine so to say.
The "FriedHats" coffee is the best I've had in decades

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pleasantly surprised by the selection of dishes and the overall quality. I believe this new course might work very well. Hopefully the three restaurants will continue to complement each other's cuisine. Well done!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely hidden gem, delicate, well prepared dishes, lovely wines, without pretense. Service is great and attentive. I had the steak tartare, which is sure to be the best in Oost, and a lovely risotto. It's not a cheap place, but for what your get, it's very reasonably priced.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wholeheartedly recommend. Why?
1. The service is exceptional. Ben is probably our favourite host in Amsterdam, welcoming and warm with excellent beer and wine advice.
2. The setting is perfect. On the water, no cars, heaters, cosy lights, blankets if it’s chilly, dog beds for the pooch - it’s all great.
3. The food is excellent. Small menu with limited vegetarian options but this has never been a problem because whatever is on the menu you can trust will be fresh, creative, and very tasty. I also like that the menu changes and they work hard at ensuring they keep it fresh. You can also see in to the kitchen and it’s very clean.
Give this place a go, you won’t be disappointed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful discovery in the neighbourhood! Top notch service, good food, especially the parmigiana. We were slightly disappointed by the risotto, it tastes good but it is a bit poor in langoustines. They also have a very interesting selection of organic and natural wines. In any case, I highly recommend and will go back for sure.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fabulous hidden spot in the eastern part of Amsterdam!
A colleague and I decided to spontaneously book a table for two at the Café Publiek today. Only a 10 minutes fiets-ride from Rembrandtplein away, Lies this absolutely amazing spot. We booked through the restaurant week in Amsterdam and had a three course dinner inclusive an Aperitif. Please see my added pictures.
Starting with the service. The two ladies were kind, attentive and absolutely on spot. Something that you rarely find in Amsterdam-ly restaurants. If you are a fan of wines, definitely check out the extensive wine menu. The service lets you test your wine at the table first and the bottle of still water is free.
The dinner menu is valid from 6 to 9 PM. While you will find a relatively limited choice, the options offered are absolutely delicious. We decided to go for the beef tartare and the Octopus Carpaccio, my god that was tasty! For the second course we went for the duck and again it was absolutely amazing! For the dessert we had the choice between different cakes and sorbets. The food was time perfectly and decorated very nicely. I would like to note that we have booked through the restaurant week which means that we had to choose our three courses upfront.
Speaking about the location and facilities. As mentioned the café lies a little bit hidden in the eastern part of Amsterdam, inside the ring. We were seated directly by the water in the amazing sunset that was just super nice. Later in the evening the Café turns on their cozy outside lights. Tables, inside area and bathrooms were tidy and clean and the café takes Corona rules absolutely seriously.
In a nutshell, We really enjoyed our stay and will keep the café Publiek in mind for future foody tours in Amsterdam.
This place absolutely deserves to land in the top ranks of the restaurant week.
