We stopped by here for breakfast and enjoyed ourselves. Pancakes were fresh and authentic. Coffee was yummy. Lots of bacon! Orange juice was freshly made. It's a great location too - right on the canal. It's also great for drinks and authentic evening snacks. Grab a table outside in the summer and enjoy! FYI They don't do full dinner. It's conveniently located near local hotels and walking distance to the more central parts.

Great and relaxed neighbourhood spot. Traditional dutch brown cafe on a quiet square totally local with good bitterballs and cold beer.

Lovely cafe next to the canal. Very romantic and cozy. Snacks are good, wine, beer and tasty cocktails. It is not expensive at all. More local than tourist vibe.

One of our favorite spots in Amsterdam. It's across from a park so we can sit, eat, drink, and watch the kids play. The menu is decent with a variety of sandwiches. The salads are huge and make for a filling meal. Sit along the canal as well to watch the boats pass by. Overall great spot to sit and enjoy the evening over a beer.

Visited: 2019-12-10. After disliking the delays in Brasserie Nel (and being turned away from a near-empty Huyschkaemer for no reservation), we just happened across this gem. Internally, it's not a large place but had a very traditional decor with soft comfortable lighting - I can see this becoming a favourite with locals as it feels like sitting in someone's front room. Despite the size it has quite a comprehensive range of meals and I opted for pea soup, (Snert) which is a thick pea and ham broth with smoked sausage, a traditional dish and very warming in the cold winter months. Most of my party stated they preferred this over Brasserie Nel - a greater range of meals and quicker service (but it IS a smaller place), and the prices were much cheaper - around 4-7 euro per meal. I asked about bringing a larger party in later on during the week; although they said there was no need to do a booking, the next day when we arrived for lunch they had reserved a few tables to one side for us. There was a minor issue with a meal going wayward - it was ordered but not delivered, and when it arrived the cook also brought up a couple of pots of chips by way of apology, admitting blame with misreading the orders - in all, it was a slight delay but didn't really detract from the overall experience. Will definitely look at eating here again: it felt quite a relaxing place, very welcoming, and their customer service did themselves proud.

Stopped along this charming neighborhood cafe in for a cup of coffee along the canal way. Staff was friendly and service was fast . Good cup of coffee too.
