β β β β β The shop was completely deserted when I came in. I approached the (older) lady to say that I was looking for very specific buttons for my project and if she had any advice. All she had to say was ''all the metal buttons are over there''. Half the ''metal'' buttons were cheap plastic junk.
My girlfriend agreed that the lady was very unhelpful as a salesperson. Wont recommend

β β β β β Really a great selection of clothes!
And the staff is super nice and friendly. There is also a whole section for vinyl records too. Lovely location and atmosphere.

β β β β β Similar to London's world-famous "Button Queen" and New York's "Tender Buttons", De Knopenwinkel (The Button Shop) is one of the unique niche shops to be found in Amsterdam's '9 Streets' area. Here you will find an amazing collection of buttons in all colours, materials, shapes and sizes. Many shop here for buttons to compliment their favourite outfits.
This delightful store on Herengracht canal has the feel of an art gallery and the business has expanded to incorporate much more than buttons. There is an interesting selection of vinyl records. One of the walls is adorned with Amsterdam scenery paintings by local artists and a delightful painting of the store by Moscow-based artist Anna Pavlova, some of whom's other works can be seen in De Knopenwinkel's exhibition space. There's a section dedicated to vintage clothing and fashion accessories galore, ranging from hand-made jewellery to belts and scarves, and Cambodian silk bags from Clair V to bags from the hill tribes of South East Asia. There's even a section for antique Chinese furniture.

β β β β β Thereβs a lot of bad reviews from a year ago but when I went two kind ladies ran the shop. The store is a button, record, and vintage store.
My mother and I found some great vintage clothes for a really good price. Would definitely recommend if youβre looking for any clothing items or buttons
